Cool older motor lodge style hotel. Great location for visiting Canyon de Chelly.
The room itself was OK. A little on the small side but very clean. Our beds were not very comfortable and the pillows were not good. The shampoo and condtioner were almost out and we were given one tiny bar of soap to be shared between the shower and hand sink in the bathroom, Based on other reviews maybe our expectations were too high butwe came away a little disappointed in the overall stay

Thunderbird Lodge in mid June
Cute lodge , lots of units, easy parking. Limited cafeteria food, restaurants a few miles away.

It was wonderful. Just as described, but better. In Canyon De Chelly right in the Navajo Nation. All staff were friendly and courteous. We booked a wonderful 4 hr canyon tour that was amazing! Cafeteria style restaurant, but items were also made to order. Huge portions and delicious.

Very pleasant. Sure like not having to use an elevator plus Thunderbird Lodge has its own cafeteria for breakfast - they have real shelled eggs that taste good instead of many of the IHG properties serving dried out tasteless eggs. Thunderbird a more homely enviroroment.

Shower handle not working properly, very difficult to operate
No conditioner or shampoo
Housecleaning entered way too early while I was getting dressed. Very inappropriate and frightening

This is a 'throwback' property that captures the earlier days of National Park travel. It is right at the doorstep of Canyon de Chelly, which is the main reason you are there.
The rooms are more than adequate, and the surroundings nice and quiet. But the real draw is the nature to which you are the closest (but without any views).
