Hostal San Gines

The staff was super helpful, we were able to leave our luggage before check in. Nice location, close to shops and promenade. However, we had a problem with a lack of hot water in the bathroom (on one or two occasions, there was no hot water at all so we had to take showers in a cold water which wasn't very pleasant experience).

I stayed here for 6 nights in February 2023. Normally I would prefer my own place but they are at a premium in Arrecife and there is no way I would stay in a soulless purpose built resort. The main reason I chose this place apart from the location was the fact that the rooms have fridges. It's not a five star hotel but for what you get the facilities are pretty good. The staff are lovely and the rooms well appointed with comfy beds, a well appointed bathroom and of course the fridge. The pictures also showed a kettle but this was missing but they said it was fine to take a small one from the communal kitchen. The kitchen too is well appointed with everything you need to cook and prepare meals and there are several supermarkets close by as well as ATM's. The location actually is brilliant - a few minutes from the lagoon and the shopping area, 10 minutes from the bus station and maybe half an hour to the beach. The terrace is lovely for relaxing and reading. The only problem really was the fact that the walls are so thin - some of those who stay here seem to be long term residents and the couple next door made an awful racket getting up in the morning with music blaring our and doors slamming. You can hear almost everyone in the corridors. I left after 6 days and went to La Graciosa for the weekend and then spent one night in a room without its own bathroom which was much quieter and had a small balcony. In some ways this was better although I do prefer my own bathroom. All in though it's a good place to stay for those on a budget.

Me and my boyfriend recently visited hostel San gines and cannot fault our experience! The hostel staff were extremely friendly, spoke good English, nothing was too much trouble from booking us taxis to advising us of things to do. The rooms are basic but clean and have everything you need, the air con was a god send! Lovely communal kitchen which again was spotless. The rooftop terrace was lovely with beautiful views of the marina. Would definitely stay again!

Very good location. Bed and room clean. Bed had firm mattress but it was larger than the base !! This is a hostel so it is a budget stay but compared to other hostels nearby it is very tired. The laminate floor in our room has experienced water damage and needs immediate attention. The shower control was loose and coming away from the wall. Our aircon did not work and the gentleman on duty could not fix it. I found it very noisy but won’t be a problem if you don’t mind listening to : your neighbour have a long wee during the night.. exclaiming loudly they have reached the height of satisfaction. Or simply clearing the chesty mucus from their lungs first thing in the morning. To be honest it’s budget.

The room was very basic but comfortable with a nice bathroom. The bed was ok. The biggest disadvantage is that you can hear everything what is going outside of your room. The biggest advantage – it is located just next to the city center, port and the beach. You can also reach the bus station within 20 minutes walk. For a quick stay yes, for longer rather try to find something else.

This Hostal is located in the Old Town, in the popular Charco de San Ginés area of Arrecife with its array of bars, shops and restaurants. It's about 10minutes walk from the airport bus stop. As its 'Hostal/Pension' designation suggests, it offers basic but perfectly adequate accommodation. The check-in process was made easy and straightforward by welcoming, friendly staff. The room overlooked an inner courtyard, and was clean and comfortable: A wardrobe/shelving space for clothing, a small collapsible table and 2 stools, a wall mounted fan, mini fridge and small TV. The bathroom was clean and the decent sized shower offered a plentiful supply of high pressure hot water. The hostal has no elevator, so rooms can only be accessed by stairs. There is a well stocked communal kitchen/dining area which guests can use to prepare and eat food. There's also a pleasant sun terrace with tables and chairs. There's a mini-supermarket almost next door. If you're looking for somewhere cheap, cheerful and in a great location, this hostal ought to be just fine.

Location is great. The room is basic, but clean. Interior room, so you dont hear the noise from the street. You can hear your neighboors, so it depends who is staying in. I liked my stay.

Lovely and friendly staff. Central location in Arrecife. Excellent idea to have a communal kitchen!

This place is conveniently located and cheap. The beds were clean and comfortable. The bathroom was also clean but very small, you pretty much shower with the shower curtain wrapped around you. There is no view from the window. The worst were the fleece/polyester towels.
