We found bed bugs crawling around in our room when we moved one of the extra beds put in there for our kids. The manager offered us to exchange our very nice room with a view and room for all of us to four double rooms, and since it was too late to find another hotel, we accepted. However, we never got keys to the new rooms which opened up to a courtyard just by the parking lot. This meant we could not lock the doors before going to sleep. There was no apology from the hotels management. We booked through Airbnb, and instead of addressing our complaints, the hotel have removed their listing.

The hotel is a nice rural farm house. Rooms are divided as different buildings as if you were in an hacienda. Pros: nice rooms and terraza Cons: far from Arzua town , 2km from town entrance, so if you are doing el Camino, call receptionist and they will send you a taxi for you. As it is so far from town, basically you are force to have dinner here, especially if you did el Camino from Palas de Reí. The restaurant (Fonte do pincho) is nice, well decorated but be Prepare as they do not have (at least today 9-18-2024 at 20:00 regular dining time In Spain) the dishes that I requested, which basically force me to eat whatever they had available (there were only 2 other couples when we enter the restaurant, so sorry Fonte do Pincho but you were not prepare). Before I forget, you have to scan the menu but when I did I had a google alarm about leaks for your personal information in their webpage, so I requested an iPad menu. Oh , the wifi from Fonte do Pincho does not work, so stay connected to the one from the Hotel. The wine list options was good. No complains about it. I ordered also a white vermouth which was only ok (ni fu ni fa). Overall we liked (don’t know about breakfast tomorrow but I don’t really care as I am not a breakfast person) In few words, the hotel is EXCELLENT! but the food needs to improve

We spent six days here, using it a homebase to explore Galicia by car (no walking the Camino for us). Was similar to Parador experiences in many ways and we love Paradors. Lovely historical buildings, comfortable if simple rooms and beds, numerous public areas, very good restaurant, and warm and attentive service. Sitting outside admiring the rolling countryside, and the two "house swans" while sipping some wine or gin-tonics was a perfect way to end a day-

When we moved one of the extra beds in our first room, about 5 or 6 bedbugs fell out. When in alerted management, he acted like it was a scam even though, as we later found out—another customer had also found bedbugs earlier that month. Gaslighting much? We got transferred to another room which they call “4 room suite” but this was completely impractical for our family and nsince we have two small kids (it’s four separate bedrooms joined by a hall), and not nearly as nice as it was facing the parking lot which is a far cry from what we paid for. Then they forgot to give us a key for our room, so we could not lock our door, and the employees were presumably too afraid of management to get the keys themselves after trying to call management after they had gone home. Employees then entered our room early the next morning. Pretty uncomfortable! The extra rooms also had bedbugs because we had bites the next morning, although we did not see any of them in the second room. Any sane person would seek compensation for that kind of experience, and yet the management seems to think that’s inappropriate??? If you run a business and your costumer has THAT crappy of an experience, you would think you would try to compensate in some way—instead they decided to write a snarky comment about us and then delete their Airbnb profile. Interesting. I would certainly not recommend this hotel—there are lots of cute places in the area with no bedbugs to ruin your vacation and much more competent management. You honestly tell what kind of people they are by reading the responses in their negative reviews just get your popcorn ready.

We were advised to upgrade our stay in Arzua from our Tour Company who booked our El Camino walk from Sarria to Santiago, and we were very glad we did. We walked from town ourselves but Pazo Santa Maria offers a shuttle to and from the Camino trail. Our room was cozy, historic and comfortable. We had lovely views from the main building. We really enjoyed our meals (ours were included) here and were regional and fresh.
