The house is very old and feels eerie! I didn't dare to fall asleep easily at night, for fear that something would happen. . . . . . There is no air conditioning, there are electric fans and electric blankets. There was no service staff, only the old aunt at the front desk, who was very unfriendly to us. At twelve o'clock in the evening, someone knocked on the door and said that our bath water overflowed. I found that there was a drainage problem in the toilet, there was no service staff, and the front desk was locked with iron bars most of the time. .

Great place place stay! Bed and pillows were super comfy, everything was clean and it is such an interesting building! The hosts are kind, friendly and helpful. Highly recommend.

Attentive and enthusiastic front desk service

Unique setting. Arrived in evening, checked-in through gated desk. Very noisy with kids playing in station ? Long term renters or emergency housing with a shared kitchen for their cooking. Room ok - recently renovated but black mould and cobwebs in windiw. View unkep back yard. Booked 2 nights but left after 1 night. Seemed better by daylight but wouldn't return. Sorry, don't like placing a review like this. Staff however were good.

I would book at the grand hotel again so much memories at the railway station

We we're surprised how modern the room was. The rooms are located in the old Auckland railway station. The station has really cool architecture. It has been renovated into a set of apartments. There are are lot of residents walking around and socialising in the the main hall. The hallways are a bit noisy and smelly. The receptionist was friendly and helpful which was nice. The room was spacious, modern and comfortable. The only issue was the noisy neighbours. The person next to us was blasting classical music and a kid started yelling at around 7am. I guess it can't really be helped, it being an old building housing numerous residents. Parking is $15 overnight until checkout. I'd be happy to stay over again. For the price it's actually pretty good.

Very close to spark arena which makes it great for seeing a show.

Amazing heritage building, being the old Railway Station. Rooms are tidy and well equipped with kitchenette, heaters, fans etc, with access to a large kitchen and laundry. Can be a bit noisy being an old building and is next to the railway line on one side and Spark Arena on another side.

Avoid. Horrendous odour in corridors. Still have not received my deposit back.

Was a very different place to stay for a visit to the Spark Arena which is right next door. They've done well kitting out the old railway station as accommodation. Some permanent and some not. Very cheap with just no soap in our shower dispenser the only real complaint.
