Lots of hidden costs $1000 security deposit which was only told about at check in also no on sit parking and when asked for times I'm email before arrival was not informed of price of parking till arrival $36 a night and no vehicle over 2.1m will fit rather annoyed after doa close to $5k booking to have these add one with no warning

Check in was a breeze. The took a charge deposit and Ibasked for a receipt of it being canceled at check out. Very good. Would stay again. Beds are comfortable.

It was a 2nd stay at the Grand Chancellor, as previously the stay was excellent. Reception staff extremely professional and friendly. Room as just excellent, very quiet for a city stay.

We stayed at the hotel for a couple of nights. The location was quite central and walking distance from the centre of Auckland. The hotel room was clean and comfortable and offered a good rate through Trip.com. The staff were friendly and warn, although some didn't seem to experienced with directions and places of interest. We didn't really use any amenities at the hotel such as the gym so can't really comment. The room served its purpose as we were out and about for most of the day. There were some roadworks on going outside the hotel which could result in road noise. We didn't notice as we got back quite late.

The amenities are quite limited, essentially just a small gym, which hardly qualifies this as a resort or a comprehensive hotel. On the positive side, they offer 24-hour room service, and the restaurant and bar have a happy hour. Surprisingly, the food and beverage quality was much higher than expected, both in taste and presentation, which was a definite plus. However, the housekeeping standards were unprofessional, with a lack of attention to detail that doesn't match the hotel's positioning. Currently, its biggest advantage is its 'newness' – new facilities and new decor. But if this advantage fades, its overall competitiveness will quickly decline, lacking long-term appeal. The location is an overwhelming strength. Its extremely prime spot makes it incredibly convenient for travel, business, or city activities, and this almost outweighs some of its shortcomings.

Was very disappointed that we were not told about the parking charge and the venue was a block away from the hotel especially when there is cheaper parking around the corner

The location is excellent, just a five to six-minute walk from the Sky Tower. The surrounding streets are all one-way and uphill, so it took me two loops before I dared to drive into the hotel. There didn't seem to be any parking available at the hotel, or perhaps no spot was reserved for me, as I was directed to an external parking lot a block away. Finding a parking spot there was a nightmare because of the designated spaces, which I couldn't locate. I eventually had to ask a staff member at the parking lot to help me find a convenient spot. The hotel front desk service was excellent; they helped communicate with the parking lot and allowed me to leave my car at the hotel's parking for a few hours on checkout day, which was very convenient. I would definitely consider staying here again on my next visit to Auckland.
