Diamante Hotel Sayulita

We are seasoned travellers. Our recent experience at Diamante was the worst experience we have had in over 50 years of travelling. We had booked 4 nights at the Diamante through Booking. com, about 3 weeks prior to our trip. We had received a confirmation number shortly after our booking and were looking forward to our stay. On our arrival in Sayulita, we received an email stating that our reservation had been cancelled because they couldn't verify our credit card. This occurred about 1 hour prior to our arrival. When we arrived, the lady at reception told us that *********** had cancelled our reservation and furthermore, the Diamante didn't have a room for 4 nights. They could offer us 2 nights, which we took and paid for, with the same card that 'could not be verified'!! When we contacted Booking. com, we were told that the hotel had cancelled our reservation. Upon further discussion with the lady at Diamante, we were told that a film crew from Mexico City was arriving and would require the whole hotel to film their telenovela. She suggested another hotel a couple of blocks away and we were able to book 2 nights there. The bottom line is that the hotel lied to us and essentially kicked us out of our reserved room to make way for the film crew. As we were moving to this new accommodation, another couple followed us from the hotel. The same thing had happened to them! The following day, we noticed that the hotel had been completely blocked off. The only vehicles to be seen in the hotel parking area belonged to the film crew. The only positive thing to come from this was that the hotel to which we had moved was considerably nicer. What is most upsetting to us is that we were "thrown under the bus". We were lied to by the hotel and basically left to fend for ourselves. A great business model!!!

Great location. Very clean. Wonderful staff. Nina was always helpful. Good continental breakfast included. Our room #8 was very small 1 double bed.. try for a bigger room. Very nice common areas and a pool.

Beautiful place and super clean. Just stayed one night. Just outside the gate you can view the ocean. Comfortable bed with lots of pillows. There is a communal refrigerator to store your drinks. The staff made it 5 stars.

Veey good stay and the staff were lovely and warm-hearted! Definitely would recommend. Location is perfect, beach very close and just a 5 min walk to town centre, which was more busy.

This is a surfers town heaven the hotel has that appeal kind of hippiesh you have to do everything on your own they don't really have a profesional team it's run by a hard working family and that's respectable. we did not used the pool with is very small but does not look that appealing haha! We where there to sleep for a couple days the rooms are kept clean and the beds are confortable. they do offered free breakfast which we did not try. Over all this is a budget hotel don't expect more.

Highly recommend this hotel. Central to the downtown and beach within a five minute walking distance, very clean room, wonderful staff, and excellent value for your dollar. We just wanted a clean room with air conditioning, hot water, and very quiet … and absolutely no bugs to be found here (unlike the other hotels nearby). Photos don’t do this hotel any justice, and was so much nicer to see in person. I’d come here again in a heartbeat. They offer a very simple free breakfast, but if you want a fantastic place for breakfast that’s healthy, try Anchor Cafe in the downtown core.

My wife and I stayed here 2 years ago before COVID. It was so nice we came back again. The place is exceptional. Nothing fancy, yet very reasonably priced rooms only a block from the beach. An easy bus ride from the airport, just walk across the bridge and catch a Compostella bus to Sayulita. 50 pesos. It drops you off literally around the corner and a 5 minute walk away. A lot of the downstairs rooms are small and spartan, no TV, microwave or fridge. Yet reasonable. There is a nice upstairs terrace that overlooks the street. Every morning the owners, Theresa and Andres put out lots of great coffee, yogurt, fresh cut fruit and sweet cakes and breads. They upped their game this year and have lots of great granola as well. Fridge and microwave for guests in common area. Nice refreshing pool in the courtyard. And clean.... they and their staff appear to be cleaning all day every day. The place is spotless. It is one of the few places in Sayulita you can actually use and practice your Spanish. They do not speak much English at all yet they really try hard to communicate in such a way that the differences are minimal. I cannot really recommend this place high enough. It is a hotel that lets you feel as if you are experiencing Mexico while in Sayulita. Very safe, secure and plenty of great restaurants nearby. Oh yea..... the beach is just a short block away.

All around fantastic

Hotel Diamanté is a great economy stay on the north end of Sayulita. Only one block to the beach, and with a great pool to float or read in. Rooms are simple, clean and comfortable. The hotel felt very safe and I appreciated seeing the hotel owner Theresa every day. Basic breakfast and coffee offered every morning (but one of the best breakfast cafes is right next door). I wish they had in-room safes but otherwise my stay was great. As a female solo traveler, it’s important that I’m safe and comfortable and I felt very safe here.
