4.8 out of 5 stars. Let me provide an objective overview of my stay. 👍🏻**The Good:** First off, the hotel staff were incredibly warm and welcoming, with every single team member demonstrating professionalism. Their attentive and friendly service truly made us feel happy and valued. The hotel boasts a superb location; its private beach is fronted by reefs and mature trees, offering plenty of shade, which made it pleasantly cool for daytime activities. Every single bungalow provides a stunning sea view! Plus, they offer a complimentary transfer to the pier when it's time to depart. 😮💨**The Not-So-Good:** On the downside, the hotel's facilities are a bit dated. The floorboards in our room creaked noticeably when we walked around. We also found quite a few mosquitoes and other insects in the bungalow, and the shower water pressure was rather low. The breakfast is à la carte, but the food quality was just average. **In Summary:** If you're planning a trip to the island, I'd suggest splitting your stay: two nights near Pattaya Beach (by the pier) and two nights on the Sunrise side. **A Final Clarification:** The hotel does not provide complimentary kayaks. However, there are numerous kayak rental options available right along the beach.

The hotel boasts an excellent location with breathtaking views. However, the only downside is the absence of a communal swimming pool. Private pools are exclusively available with pool-access rooms; standard rooms do not have them. For vacationers, please note that breakfast is à la carte when booking. In the evenings, there are several spots right next to the hotel perfect for enjoying a drink while watching the sunset. It offers excellent value for money, being slightly more affordable than Ilyn and just over a hundred meters away in terms of location.

My stay at the Mountain Resort in Koh Lipe was truly an unforgettable experience! Our room was an absolute dream, featuring postcard-perfect ocean views of Koh Lipe that I will surely never forget. What really made this stay so special was the incredible staff. They were exceptionally good and attentive, treating us with a unique blend of respect and genuine affection that made us feel so welcome. The resort's amenities are also fantastic and very convenient. There is a shuttle bus service that takes you up and down the hill, running every 15 minutes during the afternoons, which made getting around effortless. Down at the beach, they have incredibly comfortable hammocks that are absolutely perfect for relaxing by the sea. I cannot recommend this resort enough. An absolutely wonderful experience!

I really enjoyed our stay jt was low season so nice and quiet but still a good atmosphere. Rooms were comfortable, we booked two but could have managed with one room with a 9 and 12 year old. Everything worked , the internet was decent. Gardens and greenery lovely spot. Breakfast was fairly standard for this type of accommodation. Nice fresh fruit eggs, bacon, pancakes , waffles and Asian options, eaten with a nice view of the sea. Location at end of beach but close to walking street. We tended to walk to North point and get a taxi scooter back for 50b. Food on island was good. Coffee from tugboat needs a mention. Island overall is beautiful and has a really nice vibe at present hopefully it doesn't get over developed. North point is a lovely area which still has it's natural beauty.

Koh Lipe is a really untouched island. It's about a 1.5-hour speedboat ride from Langkawi, but the immigration process for both Malaysia and Thailand is just awful. Expect to wait in the sun for 1-2 hours; it's a normal level of inefficiency. If you're particular about hotel quality and environment, I'd suggest you look elsewhere. We stayed in a treehouse pool room, and there were so many dead beetles, mosquitoes, and flies. Right outside the hotel, there's a stinky ditch and a very run-down local slum. The water quality is also really poor; we had to change our filter shower head every day. The only good thing is that the snorkeling water is better than in Langkawi. Honestly, if you're not super into snorkeling, you're much better off finding a nice hotel in Langkawi and just chilling out for a few days.

A wonderful hotel. The grounds are all green, and there's a clean pool with a sea view and a path lined with palm trees. The rooms aren't brand new, but they're clean and everything worked perfectly. The room was spacious and bright, thanks to the large panoramic windows. Breakfast is a buffet. It's modest, but you can definitely get your fill. The staff are very friendly. The hotel is conveniently located. They have their own sun loungers on the beach. All the cafes and shops are nearby. We highly recommend this hotel! We'll definitely stay here again next time!

Mali Resort Sunrise Beach Koh Lipe

We stayed 5 nights at Akira Lipe Resort and 3 nights at Mali Sunrise Beach Resort. Although Mali Resort was more expensive, overall Akira Resort was much better in almost every aspect. In terms of cleanliness, swimming pool condition, facilities, and staff friendliness, I honestly don’t understand why Mali charges a higher price. Sunrise Beach itself was beautiful, and we appreciated the complimentary kayak rental. Breakfast was also very good. However, there were some serious issues. The bedding was not properly maintained — while the outer cover looked clean, the inner duvet was yellowed and visibly stained underneath. Most concerning was the swimming pool. The pool water was visibly dirty even to the naked eye. After spending a long time swimming, both my husband and my child developed skin rashes and suffered from severe stomach problems. They had been swimming, diving, and accidentally swallowing some pool water. I did not swim at all, and I was completely fine, while both of them experienced the same symptoms. This strongly suggests that the pool hygiene needs urgent improvement. I visited in early February during peak season. Pattaya Beach, where Akira Resort is located, was calm, wave-free, and much more enjoyable for swimming and relaxing. Sunrise Beach, although beautiful, had very strong waves, making it less suitable for playing in the water. That said, kayaking to the small island directly in front of the resort for snorkeling was an amazing experience. This is definitely one of Mali Resort’s biggest advantages. Some of the restaurant staff were warm and kind, but most of the staff, including those at reception, appeared tired and expressionless. Overall, I personally do not think this resort offers good value for the price and would not recommend it. For the same budget, I would strongly suggest staying at Akira instead.

This hotel has an amazing sense of style — everything feels thoughtfully designed and really stands out. The atmosphere is modern, unique, and super inviting. What truly made the stay special, though, was the incredibly friendly and helpful staff. Everyone was welcoming, attentive, and always smiling, which made us feel comfortable from the very first moment. I would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a stylish place with great service.

Pros: 1. **Location:** It's not right by the bustling pedestrian street, so it's relatively quiet, yet only a 5-10 minute walk away. 2. It's a detached, single-story villa with a private terrace. 3. The room has a minimalist design, and there's plenty of hot water for showers. 4. The beach is just a few steps from the room. 5. There are exclusive beach chairs available on the beach. 6. The breakfast is substantial, mainly Western-style. 7. They offer shuttle services. Cons: 1. The room is a bit run-down; many facilities are old or loose. 2. The island in general is a bit noisy and too crowded. 3. At over 1000 RMB per night during peak season, it's not great value for money. 4. The immigration and departure points on the island for boarding/disembarking boats are quite chaotic. You have to pay the island fee upfront. Be aware that the ATM next to immigration charges half the withdrawal amount in fees – a definite rip-off. 5. The staff on the Thai transfer boat were rude and crammed everyone onto one vessel.

The hotel was chosen based on its relatively low price and location. The hotel has seen a lot in its time: a padlock on the front door, cracks in the floor, sockets that are extremely loose, unobtrusive service. However, enough of the negative. Quite good breakfasts, proximity to the sea, good attitude of the staff level out the negative. Try it!
