We’re so grateful our friend told us about this hidden gem. Alassari Plantation truly feels like Bali’s best-kept secret. We stayed for just one night, which was far too short, and booked a private villa, Villa Tiga. Words honestly can’t describe how amazed we were by the ornate old Javanese wooden villa. It felt like living inside a piece of history. The craftsmanship is extraordinary; every detail tells a story. Our villa was incredibly private, quiet, and peaceful. The outdoor balcony overlooked the jungle and sunrise, accompanied by the soothing sound of a nearby waterfall. For a full 24 hours, we were completely immersed in nature. There was minimal mobile signal and limited Wi-Fi, which turned out to be a gift; it truly quieted our minds and helped us disconnect in the best way. The food was amazing, and the staff were genuinely kind and attentive. Everything here moves at a slower, more intentional pace; perfect if you’re looking to unplug and step away from the noise of the world. The property itself is magical: a real suspension bridge spanning the jungle valley, a Buddha walking and hiking trail, waterfalls, a river, a spa, and a yoga shala. The attention to detail throughout the entire plantation is incredible. Half the time, we didn’t even know where we were; it honestly felt like being in another world. It was a deeply peaceful, grounding, and wonderful experience. If this sounds like your kind of escape, I can’t recommend Alassari Plantation enough. With only around 10 private villas, be sure to book in advance.

We visited Alas Sari as part of a yoga retreat. We were a group of 12 and used all eight of the guest villas. Each villa has its own personality and unique view of the tropical forest. The bathrooms are open air with a wonderful shower and amenities. All the beds had comfortable mattresses and pillows and were surrounded by mosquito netting. All the rooms have ceiling fans for circulation. There are lots of stairs on the property The meals were amazing including breakfast selected from a menu and family style lunches and dinners. All the staff was so friendly and helpful. We conducted our yoga classes in the studio above the spa. Again, all open-air and surrounded by tropical lushness. Since you are in the open, you will experience critters of the wild; birds, squirrels, geckos and flying insects. When the owners arrived in 2010, there was no real development and they created the pathways, planted the trees, built the structures and hired a fantastic staff.

A Truly Special Place This place far exceeded my expectations and I wish I could have stayed longer. From the moment I arrived to the moment I left I was treated like family. The staff greeted me with fresh juice and an offer to make me dinner. The next morning Valorie(one of the owners) facetimed me and made sure everything was good and generously offered me a massage. I loved every part of my experience. The Villa was gorgeous and spacious. I loved sitting on my deck every morning watching and listening to the world wake up. The grounds are gorgeous. So many trails to explore. They arranged for a driver who took me to explore the rice field, a temple, and a waterfall. He shared their traditions and culture. The staff are so pleasant and always available to help any way they can. The food was delicious and many options. I felt pampered and peaceful and I appreciate that so much. I can't wait to plan another trip and have told all my friends and family about this plantation. Thank you for helping me recoup and rejuvenate my spirit. You will all hold a special place in my heart.

Arrival to departure was top notch. Our suite was spacious, comfortable and beautiful. A true haven in rainforest setting with cooler temperatures than the coast.. Private and with everything we needed. Areas for lounging on the shady deck and a big comfy couch indoors. Staff were polite, friendly and efficient at every point with a special mention of Budi, our guide for rainforest walk. He explained lots of details about the forest and was a cheerful and engaging guide. The restaurant served a delicious breakfast. In fact we had all our meals in the restaurant and although the property was very quiet the food was great. Lots of fresh veg and salads. Our stay was everything we hoped for in a mountain getaway and we would love to come back sometime...maybe for a longer stay. Bonus was quality shampoo, bath gel etc supplied. Also luxury bedding and pillows - so comfy.
