The Wayside and Whisky Barn

We stayed just 1 night at The Wayside and Whisky Barn. while traveling north to Scotland. It was our first night after a long day of travel from the US and it was the perfect antidote for 2 weary travelers! Emiko is such a charming host and the accommodations were both peaceful and comfortable. The breakfast was a great way to start the rest of our journey north. I'm sorry that we didn't have a chance to explore more of the lovely area but perhaps we will be back in the future. We highly recommend The Wayside!

Lovely stay at a wonderful, small, boutique bnb close to the sea on the western edge of the Lake District. Very clean and comfortable with delicious breakfast and the owner/host could not have been more welcoming and helpful. Plus the surrounding area is beautiful! And not on the major tourist track , which is to our liking. We very much recommend The Wayside!

A delightful and peaceful stay at The Wayside and Whiskey Barn. This charming little gem was unique, classy, clean and extremely dog friendly. As my partner and I had never visited the the south west Lakes region, our trip was made better by the wonderful Emmy who advised us on many things from trips out, other eateries and the general exploration of the area. The food was delicious and fresh, locally sourced produce. The drinks were divine and the Whiskey barn added to its charm. I highly recommend this fabulous escape.

I was made to feel welcome upon arrival, and shown to my room. It was clean, warm and had a relaxing as well as peaceful atmosphere. The interior decor of the bathroom and bedroom was quite trendy too. There were plenty of pubs to eat in, although one feels charmingly in the middle of nowhere. There was a good breakfast to wake upto the next day and enjoyed chatting away to the Hostess who was interesting to speak to and informative. All in all I enjoyed the stay and it was good preparation for climbing Black Combe after breakfast. A good day out!

My wife and I stayed at The Wayside for a couple of nights to explore a bit of the Lake District. It was the perfect base. Our host Emiko and her staff were very pleasant and welcoming. Our en suite room was large and airy with a view towards the nearest Fell. Everything in the, spotless, room was well-appointed and functioned nicely. We had one evening meal and two breakfasts there. All of which were made to a very high standard. The highlight for me, as a whisky drinker, was not only the impressively large array of whisky brands available in The Whisky Bar, but also Emiko's ability to provide her tasting guidance for every whisky there from memory. We highly recommend this place as a wonderful establishment from which to explore this beautiful corner of England.

An amazing find in this part of the Lakes. Emiko & Dan were perfects hosts, great local knowledge on the hikes, trails and stone circles in the area. The bar is a real highlight too for whisky lovers, amazing selection of Scottish and Japanese single malts, perfect to sample after a day on the fells!
