A fantastic experience. Nothing pretentious, just great food and service. The ladies who looked after us knew their stuff and were so friendly. Loved the recommendation for the wine with cheese instead of port for a change. Would definitely recommend if you want a fine dining experience!

We were walking the Great Lakes Connection (Grange to Penrith) and stayed here en route. Having eaten lunch at 1863 back in February we knew the food would be good and once again we had a terrific meal. Every course was absolutely excellent. Whilst the food is top notch the staff are not at all 'stuffy' and help to create a very friendly and relaxed atmosphere. The room was perfect for our needs and the staff also accommodated our early start with a packed breakfast. Overall a great stay and highly recommended.

Lovely modern room, absolutely spotless, comfy bed, gorgeous bathroom with big bath and walk in shower. It had everything we needed and more. We had breakfast and it was delicious . We wished we had a meal the night before as the food looked amazing. We will definitely be going back.

Very friendly staff, a great location and a really nice room. I would have loved to stay longer. The hotel is very easy to get to from the M6 which was handy. We also enjoyed a fantastic meal in the restaurant. The wine choices complimented the food perfectly. Breakfast was excellent and we spent the time planning a return visit.

We absolutely love coming to 1863! The rooms are comfortable , the food sublime and the staff are first rate! Some of the dishes we have eaten here have been the very best we have tasted and have exceeded some of those we have experienced in Michelin starred restaurants. Team 1863 definitely deserve all the awards they have been achieved .

We stayed in room 6 which was great and has a lovely bathroom everything spotless clean and the breakfast was amazing. Highly recommend this hotel and we will be definitely come back. Pooley Bridge never been before but a gem of a place not to far to walk to see the lake.

Absolutely amazing stay at 1863 last weekend. Superb king sized room fitted to a very high specification. We specifically booked here for an overnight stay and meal on our way back to Warwickshire from a trip to Edinburgh. As it was my wife’s birthday we were looking for something a bit special and the meal did not disappoint! Lovely staff, small car park attached oh and an amazing breakfast as well! Keith Jones

This was our 5th or 6th visit to 1863 and they still impress with the quality of the service, welcoming and friendly staff, overall environment and especially the food, which is fantastic and at a very reasonable price given the quality of thought, ingredients and presentation involved …will definitely return again in the coming months.
