We had a lovely time. The food was delicious but the absolute highlight was the staff. The staff were so friendly and helpful. We have a little baby so we needed high chairs, cots, and help with the pram. The staff were so wonderfully helpful. A special shout out to Joseph in the breakfast restaurant. He was so attentive and helpful. Thank you!

Our two night break at the Maynard was just what we required. Our ensuite bedroom was so comfortable and the view from the window across the valley was excellent. Breakfast was included with a good variety to choose from. We dined in the restaurant for our evening meals and they were also very nice. There are plenty of walks from the hotel to explore the surrounding area especially Padley gorge. We hope to return again sometime in the future.

Earlier this year we had called in for dinner. We told bar staff that we had reserved dinner, we were told to wait in reception area which we did for several minutes. We sat outside and service was terribly slow our two course meal took over 2 hours to serve. We were in the area again and booked a room. We went straight to reception, no one there. After a few minutes a member of bar staff saw us and said they would find the manager. A few minutes later another member of bar staff saw us and offered to find the manager. A few minutes later someone came to reception and booked us in. Our room was lovely, spacious, well equipped and nicely furnished. Our dinner was good as was breakfast, service for both was good, food nice staff helpful. So lovely place but you may have to hang around in reception when you first arrive!

Good points first: location; Staff friendly and helpful; bed comfortable; bathroom large and modern; coffee making facility in room; drinks choice in bar area, layout of restaurant, restaurant menu; garden area. Average points: quality of cooked breakfast e.g. bacon like rubber (probably cooked an hour before and left under a heat lamp), tea served in very nice looking cast iron teapots but unfortunately the tea quickly becomes lukewarm as the heat dissipates into the cast iron (cure - heat teapot first); quality of evening meal variable between good and average. Sound does reverberate around the lower section. On the first night when we sat down there was a group of Americans with booming voices. We immediately asked to be moved and the waitress was excellent and moved us to the top area.

Stayed here with 2 children and booked the family room. They had put up a extra single bed with a sofa bed for our 2 children. Unfortunately the sofa bed was so hard it felt like it was made out of a wooden crate. We had to request another single mattress which they were able to provide but was hassle we didn't need and I can't understand why they don't just have 2 proper single beds as they would fit easily. Evening meal in the hotel restaurant is not worth the prices as its not the best quality. We stayed here last year and the increase in prices is substantial. Our room had a few issues; tv remote didn't work, dirty carpets, shower door didn't close properly, shower diverter didn't work so overhead and hand held shower were both on at the same time. The double bed was very comfortable and the room was very quiet. The hotel is very well situated to get to various points of interest and has a large carpark. For £150 for a night B&b I would say was very good value but the rooms need a bit of attention and the carpets throughout the hotel could do with a deep clean.

Stayed for two nights to do some walking with friends, really appreciated the walks leaflet in our room, we did two of them and the instructions worked. Lovely to be able to walk from the hotel door and forget about our cars. Room was great and food superb. Good choice at breakfast although would have liked some fresh fruit to start. There was plenty of choice for dinner, including very good fish and vegetarian choices. Staff were all very polite and helpful. We enjoyed a drink in the garden in comfy seats under the gazebo after walking. I would certainly recommend the hotel and would return if the opportunity arises.

Stayed here recently for my daughters wedding. What a brilliant place for a wedding. Separate garden for having photos taken and to sit outside. The food was delicious and the bedroom was comfy and clean. Stayed the night before as well with my daughters and we shared a room that had fantastic views over the terrace and countryside. Ate in the hotel the night before. The burger was lovely. Staff were very friendly. Highly recommend.
