Sandies Bathala

It was an amazing experience of living on such a small island, but they will provide everything you need. The food is just wonderful, stuff is friendly and helpful, atmosphere is nice and very Italian oriented. Reccomend for those who loves privacy and very calm vacations in beautiful place! Would add TV into the rooms for the days with bad weather.

It’s not the first time of staying there and we are absolutely satisfied! Great staff, an awesome service and picturesque views!

Thank you to the whole Bathala team for making our recent stay on the island so enjoyable. This was our second time staying on the island having first been in 2024 and it was as good, if not better, than last year! Our time on the island is very much focussed on the water and participating in the many and varied excursions; the team in Water Sports got to know us well as we did many trips, some twice. We came away with wonderful memories of swimming with Manta Rays, Whale Sharks, and catching Red Snappers plus others fish via line fishing and snorkelling over beautiful Reefs. Lahpo and the team do all they can to make the experiences memorable for the guests, our sincerest thanks go to them all. The house reef is the best we have seen in the Maldives having been to 6 different islands. There's such a variety of species seen daily on the reef; various types of rays, sharks (black tip, white tip and nurse) and two turtles. Sun-rise snorkelling was fun to see the reef so alive and observe the more nocturnal species, like Lion Fish. The team are doing a lot to replenish coral life on the reef too which is great to see. The Intro diving lesson and short dive along the reef was superb, thank you to Werner Lau for their expert tuition. The restaurant food is fresh, varied and all very tasty and the chef and waiting staff are all very polite and extremely helpful. The accommodation is spotless with twice daily room attendance, we were very comfortable there for our 10 day stay. The island's staff work very hard which was evident by clean and looked after island, and the events put on were amazing like cocktails on the beach and the Easter dinner served outside with a spectacular display and range of food. We recognise that the Bathala team go out of their way to see that we are having an enjoyable time and are always helpful, polite and courteous. It is our intention to come back in 2026 as we have found an island that we so dearly love. If I could give you 6 Stars I would!

We had a fabulous holiday on this beautiful island. This was our fifth visit to the Maldives and this was an island we would definitely return to. The outstanding house reef and the very friendly staff were the highlights. A big thank you to Sharif our waiter who made every meal special.

Myself, husband and 7 year old daughter stayed on this island last year and I can only apologise that it's taken so long to write a review because we had the most amazing time at sandies! Firstly we were given a free upgrade to a water villa upon arrival which was super generous! It was clean with simple decor and no TV (perfect to relax!) Serviced twice daily (by DiDi) with plenty of water left in the room. The food was amazing and lots of things cooked fresh in front of you with different themes every night even a bbq on the beach some nights! (Special mention to Gassy our waiter) The views on this island were absolutely breathtaking and the snorkelling was amazing! Having stayed at a different island in the maldives recently, it really made Sandies stand out. We spent the entire 2 weeks bare foot (even in the restaurant) which really gives you the desert island feel. They have one bar and one restaurant to keep things simple. The island is small and friendly and lovely and quiet, a real get away in paradise. After visiting another island recently, Sandies is definitely the one we would return to and we hope to do so!

This was our 3rd visit to this island and it was as incredible as ever. All the staff are amazing- very welcoming, friendly and very efficient. The catering staff were great and made sure I knew which meals were gluten free and I also had the option of gluten free bread, pasta, pizza and pancakes with my choice of toppings. Our waiter Ibraham was first class - service was always with a smile and he was highly professional- he remembered us from previous visits and remembered our favourite drinks for with our meals. We stayed in a water villa and Ahmed was a real star- our room was kept immaculate and he was always polite and friendly- he worked around our snorkelling times which we really appreciated. The bar staff were super friendly and always made sure we had a drink to hand - Mohammed always had time for a chat and we enjoyed seeing his artwork. The office staff were great as well- we had an issue with our water camera and our incredible kuoni rep in male - Aishath Shamoona- offered to pick up a replacement and take it to the islands head office and mattia arranged for it to be brought to the island by a returning member of staff.. We had the camera the next day- what amazing service and dedication- they really do everything they can to make sure your holiday is perfect. Mattia was also our go to guy for anything marine related - he is so knowledgeable and passionate. The reef is thriving and the island is very eco responsible. We saw, sharks, turtles eagle rays, sting rays, lion fish and a whole reef of beautiful marine life. It was been a real pleasure staying at this island and we highly recommend it
