Grand Hyatt Beijing at Oriental Plaza

I had a great experience at the hotel pool! The front desk and WeChat responses were timely and attentive, especially Amy. The pool water was clear and clean, and the temperature was just right – very comfortable to swim in. The pool size was moderate, and the lanes were clearly marked. Comfortable loungers were available by the pool for resting. The changing rooms were clean, dry, and well-equipped with plenty of lockers. Staff regularly patrolled to ensure safety, and the anti-slip treatment on the floor was effective, so there was no need to worry about slipping. It's highly recommended to take a swim here to relax and unwind after a tiring journey.

We requested a late checkout, and the hotel quickly accommodated us, showing great consideration for the pace of family travel and truly valuing the guest experience. The room was clean, spacious, and well-equipped with amenities. Staff member Amy provided attentive service, proactively offering travel suggestions. Even during the peak holiday season, the hotel operations ran smoothly, and the quality of service remained uncompromised. It's highly recommended for family trips.

I chose the apartment area for the space, and I was hesitant before checking in, worried it might be too old. However, after checking in, I realized my worries were unnecessary! The service was excellent. Amy added me on WeChat before my arrival and provided thoughtful tips. My kids played in the pool every day; it's large, the water quality is good, and free towels are readily available. Even during the National Day holiday, we didn't have to worry about overcrowding. It's within walking distance of Tiananmen Square, practically next door to Wangfujing, and offers convenient subway access. Vicky's service was thoughtful, attentive, and friendly, with excellent attention to detail. The guest rooms were clean, odor-free, well-equipped, and impeccably maintained, ensuring a great stay. The lobby design is grand and atmospheric, and the breakfast offers a wide variety of options to suit different tastes. Overall, my stay was excellent, and I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Beijing.

This hotel was pretty mediocre. First off, both the breakfast and the so-called executive lounge dinner were incredibly subpar – I've never had worse. The food selection was extremely limited, like what you'd find in a budget hotel. It was all show and no substance. Before I drank anything from the mini-bar, I specifically checked the card inside the fridge, and it didn't mention any charges. I also recalled that drinks were always complimentary at the Shangri-La hotels I've stayed at, and honestly, for a 2500 a night hotel, I'd never heard of charging for mini-bar drinks. Then they told me a bottle was 40 yuan, haha! 😁 It was only when I extended my stay and asked for a refill that they informed me of the charge. I told them I hadn't seen a price list. The hotel then sent a staff member to my room who found a tiny, inconspicuous card tucked away in a corner, far from the fridge, not even on the table, mind you. The other services at the hotel were just as uninspiring. In every aspect, it falls short of the Shangri-La. The only nice thing was the fountain at the entrance. A very disappointing stay.

Excellent location, within walking distance to Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City. Wangfujing is right downstairs; as soon as I got out of the car, I saw the huge fountain from the movie 'Love Is Not Blind'. The butler service was very thoughtful and responsive to every request. Housekeeping staff responded immediately and arranged everything for the room. The breakfast was truly superb, and the service staff were very well-organized. Overall, it lives up to its reputation as an enduring, long-established star-rated hotel in Beijing.
