Lianjie Hotel

Large room, free breakfast, clean every day with good amenities. Only complaint and warning for others is the location, if you are planning on doing a lot of sightseeing like I did then it’s just too far away from the centre where everything is. The metro is about 1km away and cheap but will take you like an hour to get to centre every time which when you are on a schedule like me was a lot of time out every day for travelling.

I booked this hotel as it's very well located between the two airports and very well deserved by the tube in a very nice neighbourhood where you can truly see the everyday life of lovely Chinese people. Following the initial booking for a very nice room, there was an issue and tye management were so professional that they upgraded me for free to the executive suits which was absolutely stunning and beautiful and outstanding views of the whole city at the top floor. The room was spacious, and bathrooms were breathtaking. The management were very nice to me every time and even though they didn't speak English they were always trying to help. The hotel is located around many shops, restaurants and two Hugh malls located around changyiang metro which is direct to forbidden city and tianmen Square. I must admit that I stayed in the last few days but I ended up staying over 5 days because all the rooms are very large, with beautiful views and the breakfast is also very good. The overall impression is that Chinese management is always trying to help you. So, like me, if you are from Europe, do not book a Western brand and be courageous to book a Chinese hotel and experience their kindness and good hearth. I will give top grading to this hotel and will recommend it highly to all my European tourists.

Setup:European Family with 2 kids+Mother in Law/2 rooms Rooms:were like 70% similar to the pics on trip.com,but I observed,there are also renovated rooms.There was some issue with the external isolation and after the first rainy night,one of the room's floor was filled with water,it wasn't the first time as the parquet was swollen on some parts when we checked in.We addressed this issue to the reception and they changed the room to one on the other side(view at the back of the building,not at the main road)-we experienced this once more,but decided not to change rooms once more for the last 2 days. Services:towels were changed daily,however all were branded with ”Illustrious”.I think one part of the building hosted this Illustrious hotel which seemed to be upgraded and then ours(Lianjie)on the 16th floor where we stayed,looked somewhat poorer.The Breakfast was on the 3rd floor and was shared with another section of the building(this looked more modern than ours,and as I went to breakfast,I could see inside those rooms-also our section had only 1 elevator whilst on the 3rd floor on the newer part where the restaurant was,I saw also a hall with 6 elevators).The towels received,sometimes seemed like ”leftover” towels,with holes in them.We stayed for 12 nights and after around 7 days they changed the sheets(they asked if I want them changed-probably if I would not have said YES,they would not have been changed-btw.for the other room we had to ask reception to change them).And they changed it once more,on day 11,right before our leave. Cleaning:almost nonexistent..as I remember only once they superficially mopped the floor in our room.On our arrival we even observed a mix of chewing-gum and hair taped on the bathroom door frame which we left there on purpose to see if it is observed and removed by cleaners, but unfortunately it was not (we left it there on our leave). In regards of hand soap we had to ask for refill.Multiple times I also had to ask for toilet paper as this was not refilled always either. Breakfast:Asian,not suitable for Europeans.Few meat-some salami+occasionally some meat-balls and chicken nuggets.I always found things to eat,but my wife/children/mother-in-law many times complained that mostly,they could eat only eggs.So appart of meat-balls/nuggets the rest was pretty much the same. Drinks:only hot-water,don't search for cold water.There is milk,sprite,cola-few healthy options,especially for children. Reception:they are trying to do their best to help/support you,so a big thank you for that! Laundry services:it was on the 3rd floor and consisted of only 1 washer+dryer - very poor from my point of view Swimming Pool:this was our biggest motivation to select this Hotel.This was advertised in the hotel description as being free to access once per day when we booked the hotel in July,nevertheless by the time we arrived 1 month later,this was removed from the description and the person at the reception informed us that swimming pool fee is 150 yuan/person...HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT.I searched through the reservation documents the mention on the swimming pool,however seems like the mentioned section was somehow not printed along the documents.Lessons learned:next time I am taking screenshots and everything so in case of such issues to be able to discuss this with trip.com-representatives.Honestly,if the swimming pool would not have been on the list,most likely would have chosen a closer location to the objectives I visited and not like 1.5-2 hrs away from them. Location:metro station is around 1km/20min away,but Bus station is quite close. Bottom-line:if you see something that bothers you, you need to address it, so do not wait on them to see it and solve it by themselves. PS:the cleaning lady seemed to be working all day long..I think she was nice and good-willing, but had a huge work-load, so I would not put all of the issues on her.Maybe management needs to extend the cleaning personnel.
