Table wasn’t ready when we arrived which was fine. We were sent to wait in the drawing room upstairs and were brought down to our table about 5-10 mins after our 1pm booking. Staff were friendly and our drinks and food came out at 1:30pm. Food was great. However, just before 2pm, our waitress came over and said they needed the table back soon but we could go and sit upstairs again if we liked. We said no problem at all. This happened maybe 5 minutes after we had finished eating - if even! As our waitress walked away, two members of our group witnessed her walk towards her colleagues and make a “shoo” motion with her hands as if she was trying to get us to leave. About 1 min later, before we even had a chance to gather our things, another waiter came over and patronisingly asked us if we had been here before and wouldn’t it be fun to go upstairs and see the bar instead of sitting at the table. We felt very rushed to leave and couldn’t quite understand why as we hadn’t even been there an hour. Furthermore, another table who were there before us were not being hassled to leave. We hadn’t even finished our coffees and on booking we were advised we would have the table until 2:30pm. Genuinely confused as to what happened as we had great service until that point, we hadn’t caused any bother or been noisy etc. As we started to leave, staff then seemed panicked and kept asking if we were ok etc. Really disappointing as we had been looking forward to going and some of us had travelled over an hour to get there - longer than they even let us sit at the table!! This totally spoiled the experience as we felt so rushed and unwelcome. The waitress making the very rude “shoo” gesture and the waiter talking to us like we were a bunch of toddlers is enough to stop us coming back or recommending the place to anyone.

Our family stayed at the Regency Hotel for 4 days in August and loved every second of it. Our room was more like an apartment, with two bedrooms and bathrooms plus a fully equipped kitchen. There was a record player with records, a guitar, board games etc for guests to use. Every morning, the included breakfast was just a delight - so delicious and served either in the hotel dining room or in your own private suite. The staff went out of their way to help us and were so kind and enthusiastic. The location is great as well, an easy walk to shops, Queens University and a short taxi to downtown. Honestly just a very memorable and comfortable stay, very luxurious for a reasonable price. Will 100% be back!
