Our stay in The Merchant Hotel was exceptional! From the moment we arrived we knew it was going to be a special stay! Immediately greeted by welcoming staff with a friendly smile! We arrived early as we had made a reservation for Afternoon Tea. Staff kindly stored our luggage and transferred it to our room while we had afternoon tea. Afternoon tea was fabulous! Service impeccable and all the food was divine. Staff were all so friendly and attentive. It really was the staff that made our experience outstanding. They even brought a beautiful cake to mark my husband's birthday. Afternoon Tea in The Merchant feels like such a luxury experience and it exceeded our expectations! We spent some time in the spa, it was small but not busy at all. Very nice and the views from the roof top hot tub were amazing! Our room was clean, comfortable and had all the necessary facilities needed to have a relaxing and enjoyable stay. The toiletries were gorgeous! We had a wonderful night's sleep! We had drinks in the bar before dinner and they were amazing! Really fabulous choice of cocktails and they were delicious. Staff regularly topped up glasses of water and checked in to make sure we had everything we needed. Even though the bar was busy, staff were always available and very friendly. Dinner was in Berts Jazz Bar. Atmosphere was amazing! Food exceptional and staff outstanding! We had such a lovely meal, faultless! Breakfast the next morning was perfection. Once again, staff were exceptional. Choice of food was great and everything was cooked perfectly! Overall, we had an amazing stay. We had booked an overnight with breakfast and dinner package was very good value for money. We cannot wait to stay again!

We have stayed in the Merchant twice before at the Victorian side of the hotel but this visit had a Deluxe Twin Art Deco room, which was simply amazing. Huge room with two huge double beds, huge living area to relax and a massive bathroom. Our package included dinner in the Great Room. Service was very attentive and we really enjoyed the relaxed ambience. The food was amazing. Fillet steak was one of the best cooked I have had. After our meal we retreated to the Cocktail bar for a few drinks, such a lovely space to end the evening. We have already booked our next stay in August and Cannot wait. Thank you all.

Only second stay at the Merchant, but as special as the first. Wonderful ambience. Stayed in the Victorian side, bed and bathroom so luxurious. Cocktail bar so cosy and intimate, Bert's has a lively atmosphere and breakfast next morning in the Great Room was executed perfectly with such attention to detail. All round a very relaxing night in the heart of Belfast.

Have been here few times. It has always been fantastic. So much so that we buy each other vouchers for Christmas/Birthdays etc. Big shout out to Ryan on reception (our new best friend lol) for navigating his way through our numerous vouchers. This is just a fabulous experience. Rooms are amazing. Staff are fantastic and you won’t get a better breakfast anywhere. We cannot wait to go back.

Had lunch at The Cloth Ear and was genuinely impressed. The beef pie was absolutely delicious – rich, hearty and full of flavour. Service was excellent, warm and attentive. No surprise it belongs to the Merchant Hotel. A great spot for a relaxed, high quality meal. Highly recommend!!!!

I have been going to the merchant for years and it always been amazing, unfortunately on this occasion it was very disappointing. We went to the merchant for a special occasion having been told we couldn’t book we just turned up for a cocktail. I was very rudely told the wait was 30 minutes and directed to the foyer. I asked could we have a drink in the foyer and again rudely told No. 40 minutes passed with other groups seated before us, apparently because they were having good took priority. We were eventually seated and waited 15 minutes for an order to be taken then another 30 minutes for 4 cocktails. There was only one bartender on and no apology at any stage. The service was very poor and not the usual friendly atmosphere - we didn’t stay for another. Hopefully this experience is only a blip in what has always been a great hotel.

We arrived early and Ula/Una (I am so sorry to have forgotten her name!) was a saint, saw we were exhausted and let us check in. We had upgraded to a Victorian suite and it was beautiful. The hotel is absolutely gorgeous! We experienced High Tea, had dinner at the Cloth Ear and completely enjoyed every minute of our time at the Merchant!! Great location and such friendly staff. The Irish breakfast was amazing!
