Sue is so friendly and welcoming. We had a pleasant drink on the verandah followed by a delicious dinner. A good sleep in the comfortable room. We arrived early but Sue made us tea and relaxed until our room was ready. It’s a perfect stopover en route to the Kruger and just a few minutes off the highway.

We spent one night at the Shamrock Arms as a stopover on our way to Kruger National Park. We were greeted warmly by the hosts Terry and Belinda. We love historic buildings so we appreciated the pretty stone inn and beautiful gardens. We had made a dinner and breakfast reservation. Both were delicious and plentiful. Our room was comfortable and we slept well after a LONG flight from the USA. The hosts shared maps and information with us which were very helpful for the rest of our trip. We would definitely recommend the Shamrock to other travelers.

What a great discovery! Shamrock Arms is a little gem in the rough. Sue, Belinda and their team welcomed us and made us feel at home during our 2 day stay. The rooms are big and spacious. The bed and pillows were comfortable and the shower was a welcome relief after we ran our marathon. The catering was absolutely outstanding and attention was given to our dietary requests. A hearty breakfast just hit the spot the day of our departure. Shamrock Arms is definitely value for money and the bar prices are very reasonable. The front garden of the property is well kept and immediately gives you peace and calm after the trip from Johannesburg. Thanks Sue and your staff for your hospitality we can’t wait to see you next year again.

I stayed at the Shamrock Arms with my 2 grand children on the way to the Kruger National Park. I received a warm welcome from the very charming host. The room was lovely and we had a comfortable sleep over. A lovely breakfast was served the next morning. Very generous. The host provided us with excellent advice on the local attractions. I cannot fault the experience it was so warm and friendly. Would stay again in a heartbeat.

Such a charming little guest lodge! It was a most welcome and pleasant experience for us. We decided to break the drive from JNB to KNP and chose the Shamrock. Sue and Belinda gave us a warm welcome and even though the power had failed, we were served a delicious dinner and the beer was cold too! After a long flight, the bed was nothing less than heaven. Terry was a wonderful host answering our many questions about his beautiful country. We definitely will plan to stop here gain on our way back to Jo’berg. Thanks to all of you for the ‘soft landing'.

Stopped in here for a one night stopover enroute to Marloth Park, selected due to high reviews score. A secure spot. Sue and Belinda went out of their way to ensure we had everything we needed, from catering to a (sort of) vegetarian, to extra blankets for a nippy night. Whilst the building is an historical one I feel the interior could do with a makeover - the main dining/social/pub area is quite cluttered with a strange mix of decor that does not appear to relate to either South Africa, Shamrock Arms as a name, nor the railway history of both the town and the building. Considering how cold it was on the night we stayed I was disappointed that none of the fireplaces were lit to add to the atmosphere. Also disappointed that given South Africa's dire state of electricity supply, the rooms had electric blankets and aircon/heating units. Personally I think some updated bedding (think scrumptious duvets and hot water bottles) would have been a better investment. Plus the towels we had, although they looked great, turned out to have holes in them.
