Perfect stopover - we stayed as a family of five and I couldn’t fault anything. From checking to check out it was perfect. We had the family adjoining rooms and they had everything g we needed and we could park the car beside. The restaurant was a real surprise and well with a visit

Perfect for an overnight stopover. The staff was very welcoming. Plenty of room to park the car. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. We had an excellent meal in the restaurant and a very nice breakfast. I would definitely stop here again 👍

A perfect stop over when travelling through France. Spotlessly clean accommodation, nice size rooms. Good secure parking within the walled garden so you can leave all your belongings in the car if you wish. Maria recently took over the hotel and was a perfect, authentic host, really looking out for all the guests. We ate in the restaurant and found the set menu, house wine and draft beer to be good quality and good value. We’ll definitely consider staying again if travelling through France.

I enjoyed a superb night here on my way back from the Alps with my black Labrador. The service was outstanding. My evening meal on the terrace is one I shall remember for a very long time, food wonderful enhanced by the Maitre d’ who exemplified service. I loved staying here and I did not want to leave. I would return without hesitation. Merci Beaucoup

This is a great place for those who are aiming to drive the miles between Calais and The South of France in two days - it is just about at the half way mark and is beautifully located in the countryside not too far from Dijon and no more than 10 miles from the Autoroute. Accommodation is fine and the welcome is warm but what makes this lodging place special is the quality of the food which is exceptional. The dining room is airy and elegant, the quality of the staff (especially The Sommelier) is first rate and the menu is interesting, well-priced and beautifully executed. Breakfast too is a delight. We will certainly return on another North or Southbound occasion.

We arrived at 18.45 and were informed by the receptionist, (who hurriedly donned his jacket and ran off having handed over our room key), that the kitchen wouldn’t take our order any later that 19.30, so we put our skates on and walked across the drive to the restaurant. Upon entering, the female owner was on the phone at the reception desk. She completely ignored us, and the same member of staff who’d checked us in and had now morphed into the waiter, motioned to us to keep our voices down. Our immediate impression was that he was terrified of her, as indeed were we within moments of this Gallic female Basil Fawlty taking our order. We were ordered to choose our dessert, despite having no idea if we’d want any, and when I asked why, she barked that “because you must”. Wowser. We clicked our heels an complied. No Entente Cordiale at the Auberge Côté Rivière, even though I speak very decent French and did my best to establish good international relations. Brits are clearly an inconvenience which is to be tolerated, and we were processed with indifference through our meal. My main was dreadful; my luke warm trout was accompanied by a tasteless green sauce, (origins unknown), and an inedible small pot of cheesy gloop sprinkled with a few grains of polenta). A poorly thought out mess. I ate the fish, left the rest, and kept my head down for fear of incurring the wrath of the Snow Queen patronne. I could go on about our stay, but I think I’ve said enough. The room was adequate, breakfast ditto, nothing special. We left the hotel as we did the restaurant the night before, with no one there to thank us for our custom. On the plus side: The grounds are attractive and parking is easy. A convenient stop on the way to the Alps, but we won’t be returning. If you choose to stay, don’t eat there. It’s not far to town, where there’s bound to be a restaurant which makes its customers feel welcome and offers better vfm.
