Booked for a business/pleasure trip. The Pub is the heart of the village and serves great food, mostly locally sourced from the farm. Great quality, slightly expensive but worth it. The hotel is formed from a few character rooms and they are lovely. Yea and coffee in the room, everything you need. To top it all, there is a communal day room with a kitchen area (no cooker) that has tea, coffee and an honesty bar for wine and beer. The area is ideal for walking and guide maps are provided for a number of routes. I recommend the hedgerow walk, 3.2 miles / 1 hour and lovely sights of the surrounding area. Free use of wellies are available, but we did it in trainers. Also good for runners and cyclists. Staff are exceptional, really is a gem of a place and just 5 miles to Swindon.

We came here with high expectations for my partner’s birthday and I have to say left very disappointed. A very expensive Sunday lunch, no starters no dessert, two pints and a glass of Prosecco £93. The roast was okay but seriously lacking in quantity, and no we are not gannets! The following morning we came back for breakfast (why?) we had already booked it and we’re staying very nearby. Again a very poor breakfast with two coffees £46! We won’t be returning!

We called in for a 2 night break away from Bristol to revisit some ancient landmarks and get some steps in. A friendly professional welcome at every turn from the hard working team. And then there was Tim, too. Did I mention ancient monuments already? We had settled on the Royal Oak after checking out good food reviews in the area and were not disappointed. The organic ingredients were largely piggie based, and completely worth it. Our room was good value, uncomplicated and had all the essentials. Fabulous stay, darlings. Get yourself round there, you will not be disappointed.

Stayed overnight recently and really enjoyed the place. Bar and restaurant: good outside area on a sunny day with much of the food provided from an outdoor kitchen including wood burning pizza ovens. Much of the food offer is produced locally.especially for breakfast. Staff: friendly people, helpful and attentive Room: good with en-suite. Comfy bed. An additional leisure lounge with books, honesty bar , games etc. Electric car charging in car park also available. Good overall offer with all your needs catered for, will revisit.

We stayed here for 2 nights. The place is busy, the food is out of this world. There are young staff members who very happily look after you and make it their mission to make your stay memorable and welcoming. We were staying for a nearby wedding. The pub and hotel are about 20mins out of Swindon. No problem, its under £20 in a taxi. But when you are there. Tim, looks after you. He drove us to the wedding, arranged someone to pick us up at 11pm to take us back to the hotel and drove us to the train station when we left. I think this is what the world used to be like, when people really cared about the experience of others and looked after customers. It was such a welcoming happy environment we are looking for reasons to go back.. The rooms are comfortable and our room was large and v comfortable by any hotel standards. Ask for anything and they will try and make it happen. Dinner was a set in a welcoming, rustic restaurant/ pub with more than enough staff to assist. Young bright polite people looked after us . THE best ribs ever - organic, from the farm and a gorgeous large mackeral. If you’re staying in the hotel, there’s an honesty bar and a lounge with fridge , milk , drinks etc andrea and coffee making facilities in rooms. Dyson hairdryers, room fans. It’s honestly difficult to know where to stop this positive review. The owners are passionate believers in the customer experience, organic food, and a wholesome friendly atmosphere. It’s really difficult to see how anyone could give this place a negative review. We loved it. PS the farm shop on site is superb. Thank you Tim and staff for giving us a bubble of wonderful memories for 48hrs. The world needs more of this

Highly recommend
In a pretty little village, very cute with friendly staff who make you feel right at home. Lovely little pub with great food cooked in the outdoor kitchen so get all the Smokey grill effect and smells real good! The large garden is very relaxed where you can sit back and relax, there’s even plenty for kids to do with a straw bale seating area under under a tepee type cover. Indoors in just as nice with a rustic feel. The bedrooms are extremely cosy, the beds are really comfortable and everything is cleaned to a high standard.
