The staff were lovely and couldn’t do enough for you, but the hotel was filthy, and stunk of damp. Each area had a different kind of smell. The first room I was given, was meant to be upgraded, as I was at a large weekend event. The wet room I was given, had years of grime on the tiles. The carpet was filthy. I had paid for a double and had got a twin. I said I wouldn’t stay in that one. The next one was better, but had paint peeling off the wall. The bathroom, you had to shuffle to the side of the toilet, to use the sink and shower. I had to make do.
I was accosted by a man demanding I pay for him on my card, and he was going to give me cash, because he had no ID. None of the security came to help. They eventually did remove him. There was an incident which I have decided not to report to the police, of a man with strange behaviour towards me. The food was often cold but no-one was taking theirs back, so I didn’t. The ceiling collapsed by the bar, and it was lucky, in a busy hotel that no-one was underneath it. The rooms were cold, and although I got a heater, many didn’t. The rumour was that the head office turned it off as it was warm, but it wasn’t warm, it was cold. I stayed one day with trip.com, the next 4 days/3 nights was with the people running the weekend.
