Grand Hotel Toplice - Small Luxury Hotels of the World

We stayed here in late September on a driving holiday through Slovenia. This hotel is positioned beautifully on the lake. It is a classic old style hotel with many little charms like real room keys. We were fortunate to get an upgrade to a 2 bedroom suite with a huge terrace. There is a great seafood restaurant right next door and they have their own boats and pool deck. Friendly and helpful staff.

Where do I start? Have been visiting this hotel since 1997. Not every year because of family commitments etc , but this is my Country and hotel of choice every time. What a surprise when my husband told me beg of July “I have booked the Toplice and we are off in three weeks” Last visit was October 2019. I was so happy to be returning , but also thought about changes that might have been since covid. Walked into the hotel and it was wonderfull. The usual welcome and happy faces. Thank you Amel Yes there are changes and I thought how would I like the buffet dinner. The waiter service had gone, and I was a bit worried, but everything was excellent. The food well presented and enough choice for all courses The staff were on hand if you had any query and to get my husband his “ice cream” which he loves. Our room was kept spotless and regular clean sheets and towels. Yes there are parts of this hotel that need updating but for us we hope it never looses its timeless classic feel. Its not a modern cold hotel it is for us one which has warmth and charm in all aspects. I could go on and on but just thank you all at the Toplice for a holiday to remember. In two weeks time we celebrate our Golden Wedding and I hope we have health to come and visit again

We stayed for a week on a Tui holiday and were absolutely delighted with every aspect of the hotel and its staff. You must have a lake view room, without a doubt, the finest view in Europe. We spent hours watching the castle, the island, the boats, the paddle boarders, the swimmers and the wonderful swallows, nesting in the hotel eaves. This is the only hotel in Bled that is directly on the lake. The hotel has direct access to the lake and a private lido, so swimming in the crystal clear lake is easy (robes and towels provided). It also has an indoor, natural spring filled pool with multiple saunas and a steam room, again with views of the lake. When you are bored with being in the lake there are free rowing boats or SUPs for a trip to the island or a tour of the lake. There is a magnificent buffet breakfast, bacon and all sorts of eggs, omelets, waffles, scrambled eggs and salmon as well as fruit, cereal, ham, cheese, fruit juices, croissants, fresh bread, toast and cake! The evening meals are equally as good. All are buffet style, with choice of soups, salads, changing starters and 6 to 8 main course choices including vegetarian. The meat - beef, lamb, chicken and pork is cooked to perfection with beautiful sauces. There's pasta, stews and risotto, too. Then a daily changing range of dessert, Bled Cakes to fruit mousse to creme brulee to just fruit, to name just a few. Finally, the staff are a real credit to the hotel; Anja and Anjay on the front desk particularly stand out for their helpful, friendly, problem solving attitude. We will most certainly be back!

This hotel has the finest position on Lake Bled ........The rooms that are with a Lake View are superb - the view is one you will never tire of and sitting on your balcony with a glass of wine watching the ever changing activities on the water is one that will remain with me for a long time . There is also a private lido and comfortable sunbeds , free use of rowing boats and SUP's and a wonderful SPA with a great selection of treatments. Buffet breakfast and the additional available menu caters for all tastes the only reason I have not given 5 stars is the ridiculous idea of allowing people to reserve a lakeside table at breakfast . Of course everyone wants to sit in these seats and seemed very unfair on the wonderful staff that were made to feel awkward when explaining the situation of the 'reserved' notices on breakfast tables (I heard several other guests complaining about this). When I mentioned it at the desk I was told that this was only available for 'returning guests'...very short sighted by the management as to get a guest to return one would think they need to be made to feel special surely ? When booking boats guests at the hotel don't get preferential treatment so why should this be so at Breakfast ....

I stayed at this wonderful hotel years ago and remember it fondly. Felt like royalty. My room was old world charm with a large stone balcony that overlooked Lake Bled. Loved the balcony whereas, was able to go out in the morning and night and enjoy a hot drink in the crisp Fall air. In the morning I enjoyed watching the swans take laps along the lake and the fog zig-zag over the Julian Alps' foothills. Right across from my room was the beautiful Castle Bled perched on the side of steep grade (which was alit at night). And, thinking that it could not get any better, at night fireworks went off from pylons that came out of the lake (I am such a kid...love fireworks!). I definitely want to return to Lake Bled and to definitely stay at this hotel!

Excellent customer service, fantastic location right on the banks of Lake Bled! This historic hotel lived up to its billing, which definitely didn’t disappoint our group of 30! Perfect place to call home for our stay at Lake Bled! And the views are from a storybook! 5 star service, I would love to return some day!

Lake Bled is glorious and the Grand Toplice Hotel brought our visit to another level! First you must upgrade to a lake view room. The terrace with a view is absolutely fantastic! We stared in awe for two days! We actually planned to drive the Julian Alps but decided not to leave the Grand Toplice. The hotel might be a bit outdated but that adds to the old world charm. The staff was friendly and patient with us as we decided to upgrade our room. Breakfast begins with a glass of champagne with a spectacular lake view on the patio. Again, all staff were friendly and accommodating. We really enjoyed the swimming area with comfy sunbathing chairs and free rowboat use. We rowed to the island and back. It was quite an adventure! It was definitely a splurge to stay here but it was worth every Euro.
