I just returned from five days at Blue Star Dive Resort in Anda, Bohol. Now that I'm back in the hustle and bustle of Manila, I find myself suffering from the peaceful feeling of missing Anda. I am a retiree and spend a lot of time traveling around the Philippine Islands. In the past, I have been to Pan Lao Island in Bohol - the more famous place in Bohol. So, when I had happened to be in Anda in Bohol, I was happy to have accidentally discovered this star in Bohol. Anda is about 100 kilometers from Tagbilaran, where the airport is. There are buses, trucks, and private cars, and you can take a ride to Anda. (A bus costs about 100 pesos, a van about 130 pesos). From the airport, you can take a tricycle to the bus terminal for 40-50 sopees. Anda has the same pristine white beaches of Panglau, but without the crowds of Panglau. It was worth the extra 100km to get there. Anda's main attraction, like Panglao, is its diving. I'm not a diving fan and I thought I might not be able to stay in Anda for as long as 5 days. But it turns out I was wrong, because besides diving, Anda also has fascinating places like Lumanoc Island, Anda Waterfall, watching dolphins and so on. As a photographer, the beautiful scenery there is enough for me to stay for 5 days and watch the beautiful sunset and sunrise at the blue star diving resort. There is a panoramic view of the sea from the top of the cliff. I am very happy to open Facebook in the restaurant of the resort, and enjoy the beautiful scenery while reading the news in my laptop. Yes, the resorts have wifi facilities, and I was able to connect with the world while enjoying the solitude that the attractions provide. Unlike others, vacation means "doing nothing" to me, because I don't like sports or other activities, I just like to read a book, take pictures, and enjoy the beautiful scenery around the blue stars. I love watching the sunrise and starting my day with a cup of brewed coffee that puts Simbuck to shame. Not only is the coffee great, but so is the food. Lunch and dinner are always varied and fresh, and the meals are not only plentiful and plentiful (too much for my appetite in fact), but are always served hot and ready. Since I'm not very active which type, I didn't like other facilities like swimming pool, jacuzzi, massage, badminton, volleyball, billiards, mountain bike, and well-equipped diving. There are also canoes, 3 large boats, and speedboats out of the scenic spots. I stayed in an air conditioned room in the garden room which was a good size (bedroom and bathroom) with a minibar, tv, coffee and tea. You can sit on the balcony and read a book - all the facilities are five star. The room as well as the entire site were very, very clean. In fact, gardeners often sweep up fallen leaves. The sight of falling flowers and leaves all over the ground actually adds to the charm of the place, reminiscent of autumn (my favorite season). One morning we watched the dolphins swim and leap over the horizon. The staff at the attractions are friendly and helpful without invading others' privacy. When I meet any of them, they often call your name, say good morning, or good night. Anda Island's public beach, a short distance from the attraction, has white sand and ancient waters, and you can see the sea stretching for several kilometers. The city of Adachi has done a great job keeping the place clean. They even run a great restaurant. When I yearn for the beauty of Anda, and the peace of Blue Star Dive Resort, I just look at the 600+ photos I took during my 5 days there and take myself back to that peaceful place. Really, Anda's Blue Star Dive Resort is really an undiscovered star in the Philippine Islands, the most beautiful place I have ever been to in the Philippine Islands. If you crave peace, calm, and scenic views, I highly recommend Anda in Bohol, and Blue Star Dive Resort. Words cannot fully describe the beauty of this place. Go see it, experience it to believe it. •
