Mobys Beachside Retreat

BED BUGS in #57. We stayed for 2 nights mid-December 2024. On the second morning I woke up covered in bed bug bites. We reported it to staff which sent me an email later on that day saying they had conducted an inspection and found no evidence of bed bugs. I then reported it to council which also conducted and inspection. According to Moby's they had also found nothing during that inspection. So I discussed the situation with a business specialising in bed bug treatment. The guy was telling me they had recently helped a business with cabins who's customers were getting bitten quite badly and there were also no signs of bed bugs found even after thorough inspections. It was not until the floorboards were pulled off that 100's of bed bugs were found in each cabin. This story confirms to me that at least #57 at Moby's is infested with these bugs. Of course they keep saying it would have been insects biting me but they would not bite in lines and patterns of perfect shapes and leave small brown spots on the skin. I have now spent close to $2000 on products to self treat my house and have spent many days doing so and I am still not done. We also had to throw out our sofas and footstool as our beds are fully treated now and still we are getting bitten. We could not have friends and family staying with us since this incident and many good memories and happy moments have been lost. Of course Moby's won't even refund the 2 nights which wouldn't even cover the money I spent on treatment products. So if you want to avoid spending as much money and time as I have and avoid the stress and drama then I suggest you do not even consider staying here. I have no idea why Moby's has such great reviews but it seems they are all related to the restaurant which really has amazing food.

We attended a 3 day wedding extravaganza in this beautiful part of Australia A number of our party stayed at Mobys. What a wonderful resort. Individual "beach houses" just a short walk from Blueys/Boomerang beach. Spacious and super clean units. Very basic but super comfy everything you need for in suite dining in well stocked kitchen. Great cold/hot HVAC system. It was chilly so we used the HEAT setting and it did a great job! The grounds are stunning. Trees, birds, turkeys. One feels a sense of "Garden of Eden". Wonderful tennis court and pool with warm spa kept the kids very happy. Check in staff pleasant. We had a "slow drain" issue that was promptly attended to. Perhaps the most pleasant surprise was the quality of the food at SIPS the on site restaurant. Absolutely first rate. Breakfast is fresh and delicious. Dinner was as good as any top Sydney eatery and 1/2 the price! The fish is SO fresh. We enjoyed grilled Kingfish one night and it was sublime. The chef/owner [not sure] is a super nice chap. Happy to chat about the locally line caught fish, the menu and anything else. Staff are the best. So sweet and helpful and kind. Coming all the way from Toronto we are used to sour, puss-faced miserable servers who truly delight in abusing paying guests. Not here!! In general - the service industry staff in Australia appears to be so happy and upbeat and proud of what they do. Very true of SIPS staff. What a tonic. SIPS is truly a first rate dining experience at very very modest prices. A very good reason to select MOBYS for lodgings...nice to have fine cuisine a short stroll away!

Really comfortable and secluded beach cabins with onsite parking. The hosts were welcoming and provided great information on the places to visit which was very helpful. Seal rocks is worth a visit to see if you can see the whales(between May to Nov). I have booked two nights but could have easily stayed longer. The cabins are well laid out and set up with all the cooking utensils and dishes you need. Comfortable and warm bedding and clean bathrooms. The nearby Boomerang beach was beautiful and great for mornings walks to catch the sunrise. Note there is no WIFI (only available at reception) and no mobile reception so very suitable for total disconnection. The lakeside road was a bit bumpy due to the potholes from recent rain. We were fortunate the rain stopped the day earlier the flood water receded enough for us to get to the resort using the Lake Side road. I would definitely go back when the weather warms up a bit more. There a really good and reasonably priced restaurant and cafe within the resort worth trying. Dinner booking is needed.

We loved our 2 bed, 2 bath cottage. It was well appointed with a lovely deck, new appliances and furniture. It’s a really kid friendly resort while still being a good experience for adults. Unfortunately Sips was closed due to covid but it looked promising. The pool was great. The north end of Boomerang beach is patrolled and lovely. The Blueys shops are great! Couldn’t recommend more highly and we are already booked for next year!
