Hotel Finca Lerida Coffee Plantation and Boutique Hotel

The property grounds and surroundings are just beautiful. The rooms felt humid and stuffy. The bed’s upholstered headboard smelled terrible and my husband that is highly allergic had a hard time sleeping. Breakfast is included and that was very good.

Great team and great location! Definitely a must see and must stay during a visit to Panama. Coffee lovers will be delighted.

We had lunch at the finca on the patio of their restaurant. What a delightful place. But it was all about the food for us! We tried several of their appetizers as a kind of self made 'tapas' ... everything was excellent, we were so impressed. We had a soup and a wonderful concoction of clams and chorizo which was superb and some mini tacos ... So delicious! We will be back as soon as we return to Boquete.

The best part of this hotel is the bird tour and the coffee tour given by Cesar Caballero. It's a beautiful coffee plantation but has changed hands multiple times. But Cesar's father gave bird tours and his mother picked coffee there. His grandfather lived there too. He is an incredible expert on both birds and coffee and both tours were fun and interesting. On the coffee tour we started by looking at the plants of Geisha and Catuai coffee beans and then went through the processing by drying, sorting and bagging, followed by a coffee tasting. On the bird tour, we walked the beautiful grounds and he's so good about spotting so many different kinds of birds. Hummingbirds are territorial. We watched another bird feed a baby bird, Great photos on both! The hotel has a beautiful setting and the staff is very nice but they are still trying to get their footing as a hotel. We tried to reserve the tour by email and never got a response. Over and over and over again. Our toilet kept running and we couldn't get anyone to fix it!!! Try to avoid Room #5 or ask i f the toilet runs constantly. On the restaurant: The smoked tomato soup and local grilled cheese are very good and the setting is nice. But again, we most valued our time with Cesar who has such an extraordinary amount of knowledge and such an interesting personal story.

The restaurant has a beautiful view. Unfortunately, the male server with short hair and glasses made things super awkward. Ticket name for server is Luz Urriola. I clearly ordered a veggie burger for my bf (who does not eat meat) so I’m positive I said veggie. The rest of my party all heard veggie. Except the server. He brought out a regular meat patty burger. It would have been okay, everyone makes mistakes. He could have just apologized and switched the order. No biggy. But instead, he got upset and began to blame us for “not ordering the right way”. He stated that we did not say veggie burger and then proceeded to give us an English and pronunciation lesson. He said that next time we need to say “VEGGGIIIEEEE” burger. My bf and the rest of the table all let him know that I clearly said veggie burger. Totally weirded us out and ruined the mood of our lunch experience. I’m sorry he misheard but why make things worse by scolding the client that traveled from so far away to come dine here? Extremely unprofessional!!! : ( Especially when it was your own fault. Super rude. Furthermore, the mis- order was taken back (but not without a fight) and a quickly cooked, uncooked veggie burger came out. The patty was awful… it was a paste patty 🤢 Pity because the view was nice at least.

We spent three nights at the Finca Lerida. This is a working coffee farm and though we did not take an actual tour of the farm (they offer them), we hiked the grounds and observed all of the workers performing their various tasks. This place is amazing, very lush and peaceful. We stayed in a Deluxe room which had plenty of space with a very comfortable king size bed. The restaurant is excellent and the staff very attentive (George and Roosevelt). You will definitely want to have dinner there at least one night. Breakfast is very good and relaxing sitting outside. The property sits at approximately 5,000 feet and it takes about 25 minutes to drive from Boquete to Finca Lerida. The road is steep and winding, drive carefully (especially at night) as there are people and dogs walking on the road. It is easy to get a taxi if you want to go into town at night for dinner (highly recommend Fernando 507 6792-2247...he gave his permission to refer him).

It was our second stay at Finca Lérida. We enjoyed it even better than the first one four years ago, as we stayed longer and really took time to appreciate the spectacular setting high up in the mountains, the quaint hotel cottages, the gardens full of colourful bushes and trees, the tropical birds chirping and flying around all day long, the mountain trails inside the very large property, the detailed visit of the works at the coffee plantation... The hotel being 10 minutes by car outside of Boquete town and into the Lérida estate, it is very quiet at all times of the day, making it a peaceful retreat ideal to rest while enjoying the beautiful nature around. Still, it is easy to get a taxi to drive to town or hire a guide to walk the numerous trails within the Parque Nacional Volcán Barú. Do not miss the Pipeline trail where if lucky you will observe the elusive and magnificent quetzal bird! The hotel restaurant sources produce from local farms and from within the estate itself, therefore everything served at breakfast, lunch and dinner is fresh, tasty and healthy. Lastly, the hotel staff was extremely kind and attentive, making us feel truly at home. In particular Vilma, Hermes, Jorge and Roosevelt at the restaurant, and of course Juan Carlos the resident manager. We will be back next year for sure!

The accommodation (Chimney Suite) was nicely decorated and spacious. However the TV did not get any reception and there was only lukewarm water. The grounds were nicely landscaped. I would not recommend staying here as they tend to get many tour groups and are not set up properly for that. There was a group of 16 while we were there who completely dominated the situation. They would always sit together as a group. For breakfast one orders off the menu and there is no buffet. The group would spend significant time dining and the other guests would be haphazardly waited upon. For dinner most guests eat inside as it's quite cool then. Consequently there is not much space for other guests and this particular group were quite loud and spent several hours dining. I would suggest going up to the Finca for a coffee tour followed by a coffee drink and pastry in their small cafe after the tour. I would not suggest staying at the Finca but in town.

We’re a group of 11 peoples with 3 nights stay, the hotel is beautiful, just the service of the restaurant was terrible, we were waiting an hours and half for the breakfast and the staff with ignorance when we tried to ask for it, the amenities of the hotel room was awful, shower no pressure.
