The Spyglass & Kettle by Greene King Inns

We stayed at the Spyglass & Kettle in Southbourne this weekend with our two young children while visiting family nearby, and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. From the moment we arrived, the staff in both the hotel and the restaurant were absolutely incredible - so friendly, welcoming, and genuinely lovely :) The location is perfect, right by the coast, and waking up to the sound of the ocean and birdsong was such a peaceful and memorable start to each day. The food was good, and the service was consistently fantastic! All in all, it was a relaxed, warm and thoroughly enjoyable stay. We'd wholeheartedly recommend the Spyglass & Kettle for a short stay.

I stayed here for one night. The staff were excellent: friendly, helpful, and professional. The room was spacious, comfortable, and spotlessly clean. And it was excellent value for money. I would definitely stay here again.

Ordered a non alcoholic spritzer cocktail as was designated driver Young bar staff girl didn’t know what glass to use , how to make the drink , dropped the ice scoop on the dirty bar floor and returned it to the ice bucket (it was after she had iced my drink but yucky !) The drink was undrinkable not made correctly she tried to make it taste better by adding so soda .. awful The bar manager said swop it for another drink but after waiting watching her walking up and down looking unsuccessfully for the right things to make it and the thought of the dirty ice scooper being used .. I said don’t worry I will leave it now and didn’t get a refund Was going to order food with my friends but we all decided to go into Christchurch and have a better time She is not a new member of staff and would benefit from some extra training Jo would have been on it if she had been there .

Older property with a pub below. We liked our stay except for the sloping roof (ceiling) room, where we kept banging our heads.

17 friends got together to enjoy the Christmas menu and oh we were not disappointed. The staff, Jo and her team were brilliant. Very attentive and we received very good friendly service . The food was excellent.various starters all delicious. Most of us had Roast Turkey with all the trimmings. The plates were almost over full . Definitely all fresh produce cooked. Everything was very tasty and cooked to perfection. The desserts were amazing. Well done to you all . We will definitely be back. Thank you so much

Firstly we have stayed here before and had a wonderful experience. The property is old and consequently does not have that modern minimalistic feel to it. I think the beds could do with replacing as you can feel the springs through the mattress topper. The stairs are a challenge on par with climbing Snowden. So why did we come back? The Staff and ambience and the quality of the food and the feeling that you belong here and so welcomed. I love it. The patrons are warm and friendly and happy to chat with you. The staff are wonderful and I have to say that Ben is amazing. He sees what’s going on around corners and they all work hard. We were sorry to leave and will definitely be back.
