Very close to a 5* review but honestly it is a bit patchy. (Still here as I write this). Arrived at midday on Sunday with Crystal, short transfer but unnecessarily dropped us off about 80m from the hotel, when they could easily have come to the front door. (Same apparently on the return transfer). Really friendly staff but reception/bar was absolutely rammed with people leaving and my room wasn’t ready - had to wait nearly 5 hours to get into the room (around 5:20) and another hour to take skis and boots to the ski-room. The ski room is across the underground car park and is basic - unheated lockers and limited space. Very handy for the slopes though. Room is lovely with loads of space and very clean, mini fridge but really limited on plug sockets (only one useable one). I asked for a quiet one which I was given (opposite side to Harrolds bar) but still quite noisy from within where you could hear a lot from neighbouring rooms and the corridor. Really enjoyed the food - buffet anti-pasti and then served primi and segundi from a choice of 3 dishes for each - 1 meat, 1 fish and 1 veggie. Not everyone’s taste though. Buffet dessert was excellent but went quickly. Good value wine. Breakfast was lovely but the same every day although there’s not much extra you could do. Bacon and Scrambled eggs available (didn’t try) alongside cereals, traditional continental and lovely pastries. Ski slopes directly up a flight of stairs from the ski-room so genuinely ski-in, ski-out. The instruction (pre booked with Crystal) was good and a big variety of slopes, mostly blue and red. Weather was patchy and very icy on the Friday but still good skiing every day. Saturday busy but not unreasonably. It’s a long way (0.8 miles) from town and the nearest shop and they are closed all afternoon. Spa is ok - but located right away from the rooms so needed to walk right through the hotel in spa-gear or change in a very unpleasant locker room for the gym. Only included Monday to Thursday but I honestly don’t think everyone that used it on Friday and Saturday paid the €25 each day. Hammam (steam room), 2 small saunas, a Roman sauna (never see the point) and a nice pool. Pool (and honestly whole experience) dented by the amount of noise made by the kids in the pool who are allowed in all the time it’s open. Overall a lovely stay, I can’t fault the staff in any way they were all superb and the location is amazing for skiing (less so for town) I would definitely stay here again

I was in Bardonecchia for a competition and stayed 15 nights in Rive. It was convenient even though a lot of our racing was up the valley a mile or so. The rooms are basic and bright. The finish is poor. For example a shelf had been removed and the gap not painted over. The bed was very hard. But heating worked. Breakfast was again basic with the same 2 hot dishes (scrambled egg and bacon) every day. You had to book lunch and dinner and choose meals the day before which was irritating. The area is good though icy at times. Lots of restaurants doing local specialties as well as pizza and pasta. So adequate though marginally better than s back-packers type.

We have been coming to Bardonecchia for several years now, both for work and for vacation, and Hotel Rive is by far our favorite place to stay and our favorite experience. The location is beautiful, the food is excellent, the hotel is clean and well kept and lovely, and the staff are both extremely professional and extremely personable. We have successfully hosted a small conference in the hotel for the second year in a row now and are absolutely thrilled with the service we have received. Alessandro is absolutely wonderful to work with and all of the staff make our stay and our work so smooth and enjoyable, it makes work almost feel like vacation! Thank you Alessandro, Alberto, and all the staff!! You are all an absolute delight!

The hotel is great, very nice, big and well kept spa. The food is absolutely fantastic. The starters were my favorite, with always freshly grilled vegetables. The location is amazing, there is an infinite amount of outdoor activities, my favorite being a hike to a mountain lake to bathe and outdoor rock climbing, just 10 min drive away.

(Bit late to the review - we actually stayed March 2023). Arriving in Bardonnechia, our expectations for the hotel were moderate. However, the food (especially the breakfast) was better than anything I enjoyed in Rome and the hotel staff were friendly. They could probably do with a couple signs disclosing the tourist tax but this is a government rather than hotel specific thing. The surrounding area was lovely and peaceful - if you want apres ski then go to Bansko instead but we loved being able to unwind in this peaceful town that didn’t feel like a massive commercial tourist enterprise. The bathroom was massive, the lockers accessible and we loved being able to ski in and ski out. The ski area is probably best for moderate-advanced skiers (could be quite icy in places) but we enjoyed some of the quietest mountains ever in this place! Lovely to not be worried about bashing into young children or boarders for once :) Would definitely stay here again!

Nice looking hotel and the rooms are nice. Not 4 star hotel by any means. Doesn't offer any draught beers which is a disgrace as bottled beers are always twice as expensive. Food was good in an evening but breakfast hot food is terrible. Needs a few tweaks and could be good. No subtle lighting, bad layout in dining room. No atmosphere and no background music.
