Premier Inn Lincoln (Canwick)

The Premier Inn Hotel at Lincoln (Canwick) is situated beside a busy road junction about a mile-and-a-half south of the city centre, on a hilltop surrounded by rural farmland, adjacent to the International Bomber Command Centre museum. There are plenty of parking spaces for guests arriving by car. For those reliant upon public transport, the hotel is on a direct road 'bus route from the transport interchange but services are infrequent and non-existent on Sundays and Public Holidays. I timed the walk from the hotel to Lincoln Cathedral at 35 minutes but that involved pushing myself really hard, and coming back to Canwick the climb out of the Witham Valley is quite steep! My en-suite room was clean, comfortable, quiet and spacious with a lovely double bed in which I slept like a log. There was plenty of hot water for a shower in the mornings and all of the electrical appliances in my room - hairdryer, kettle and television - worked as intended. As usual, extra supplies of tea, coffee and milk can be collected from Reception. Checking-in and checking out were both very easy and it was good to see free A4 sized maps of Lincoln and local road 'bus timetables available for guests to take away. The staff were all pleasant and helpful, giving good advice about where and when to catch a 'bus down to the city and what to see (Cathedral and Castle) whilst I was there. Breakfast is taken in the adjacent Beefeater Restaurant where I enjoyed the usual fare of cereals, fresh fruit, toast, hot drinks and a full English fry-up, including tasty black pudding in addition to the usual bacon, eggs (scrambled or fried), hash browns, baked beans and mushrooms. On two out of three evenings I dined in the Beefeater restaurant as well - seemingly very popular with the locals - and found the waiting staff to be polite, helpful and efficient. The Wine List was actually quite good with some lovely single-varieties available by the glass as well as by the bottle! In my room the free wireless internet speeds were 0.9 Mbps (Down) and 0.4 Mbps (Up) with a Latency of 34 ms. There were plenty of 3-Pin, 240 Volt electrical sockets for my laptop computer, camcorder and battery charger. I'd happily stay here again even though I don't own a car and am therefore reliant upon public transport to get to and from the hotel!

Hotel was great location, staff support excellent. However, the Beefeater was very short staffed. Those who worked there were great but they definitely needed more staff people were walking out.

The best customer service we have ever had. I left a book behind in our room; it was retrieved the day we left and kept for us. Once I had emailed to ask about it, it was posted back without charge and with no delay. It arrived home less than a week after our stay. Several members of staff were involved - my thanks to all of them

Having stayed here already a couple of times whilst going to watch the lincoln games downtown I only have nice words to say about the staff and the hotel. An absolute quiet heaven with amazing beds and a very beautiful and large car park. good coffee across in the beefeater! many thanks

I enjoy a quiet and clean place to sleep whenever I am away and this exactly what we got when we stayed in the canwick hotel from premier inn chain. This was good, water was hot enough for a shower and the shower pressure actually amazing. We eneded up having dinner across in the beefeater and the steak was cooked to perfection!! My wife was not happy with her small salad but I was so 5*. thanks team!!

although we were not impressed with the outside the hotel looks better when you go in. What was satisfactory was cleanliness & staff customer service. Things that need improvement: by far internet connection was little to non existent & restaurant times. They closed at 9Pm on a Sunday evening with no where else to go for a drink nearby. we could not even go to tesco as that was closed also...
