Whenever we travel to southwest France, which we do regularly, we always try to stay over in interesting places - this is one of the best we have ever stayed in. Sympathetically and beautifully renovated from a working water mill, we had a lovely room (we were upgraded to a much larger room that we had booked which was a very pleasant surprise. Nicely decorated, with a large ensuite shower room and a very comfortable bed. We had dinner which was marvellous - I had a rack of lamb, and have never had so many vegetables in a French restaurant before! My wife had delicious fish. In between courses we had delicious amuse-bouches. Desserts were to die for. We had to take a walk around the beautiful gardens and grounds to let it sink in, and in anticipation of the wonderful home cooked breakfast the next morning. It is not cheap but given the location, the ambience, the friendly welcome, the excellent food, it is very good value. And the owner gave me wife a little present in the morning as a little thank you for our custom - a really nice touch. Highly recommended (and Brantome is a lovely town to visit!)
