Villa Avantgarde

Had a fantastic week here! Lovely little boutique hotel. Franka really is the best host you could ever wish for. So friendly, so helpful, and nothing is too much trouble for her. Made a lovely holiday an exceptional one, thank you! :)

After reading some reviews I was a little wary but I quickly discovered that this was the perfect accommodation. The greeting from Franka on arrival was excellent, very helpful person always with a smile on her face. My room was lovely and spotlessly clean, I could not fault it in any way. I had a lovely balcony with wonderful views of the mountains and sideways down to the sea. Breakfast had a great choice and lovely to have it sitting on the terrace. Location is excellent, a short walk to all the facilities this beautiful area has to offer and local buses practically on the doorstep to Dubrovnik one way and Cavtat the other way, both of which I would highly recommend. The beach in Srebreno is beautiful, swimming in the clean sea was one of the highlights of my holiday. I would not hesitate to recommend Villa Avantgarde and will definitely be back.

Villa Avantgarde is a fantastic retreat near Dubrovnik. This clean, peaceful, and cozy villa offers a warm welcome from the friendly staff and serves excellent breakfasts. With a sandy-pebble beach just a five-minute walk away and a refreshing pool on-site, it's the perfect place to relax. The added convenience of a garage and easy access via Uber from the airport makes it even more appealing. Highly recommended for a memorable vacation.

Villa Avantgarde is advertised as 4 star. Whilst it was ok in the main, we thought it would be lucky to be 2 star. We mentioned to a member of staff that the shower head and hose was hanging to the floor, and that the bracket holding it to the wall was broken. It didn't even come out of the shower head as an even flow, and whilst holding the head in one hand, and trying to get washed, it was a difficult task. There was no fridge in our room, and there were 3 cups supplied, with no kettle, and at the beginning of the week stay, we had 2 tea bags left for us. I put one tea bag in the drawer by my bed, and by the end of the week, there weren't any more supplied to us. The television worked at times, but the signal didn't always work, which ended our viewing, and the remote control wasn't working either. The bed cover was a thin sheet, and there were stainings on the wall in places. There was also some pipework or cables that were taped up which we didn't know what they were. The breakfast was very good with lots of choice, and the hotel was nice and quiet on the whole in a pretty good location not far from shops and beach. I don't think we would return as for the reasons we mentioned earlier. We still enjoyed our week although it was very basic.

We were very satisfied with our accommodation. Our apartment had a nice kitchen and had everything you need for a vacation. I really liked that they often changed our towels and took the trash out of the apartment. The first reason why they chose this place is breakfast, because it is quite important that someone can offer you fresh coffee in the morning. At breakfast, there was not a large selection of fruits and sweets, but there was plenty of other offers, from eggs, omelets, yogurt, hot sandwiches, cereal, cheese and prosciutto. Breakfast really helped us to go on a tour of beautiful places on the coast as early as possible in the morning. We would spend every afternoon on the beautiful beaches near the villa. There are plenty of them to choose from. In the evening, we would walk along the sea, and the children loved several children's playgrounds. The Wi-Fi worked properly, so we could check our emails and the children could use their mobile phones. The pool at the villa was clean and fresh, we loved jumping into it and refreshing ourselves. A friendly girl welcomed us on the day of arrival.

We are two middle aged adults who travel a lot and always stay at smaller boutique hotels. The photos on-line ofd this hotel are somewhat posed and do not reflect our experience. We arrived at this supposed 4* villa/hotel at 3.30p.m for an 8 day stay in a double room. (No 12). More like 2* with a bit of imagination. Negatives: The room ill prepared. The toilet was badly stained with black limescale and the cistern refilled intermittently. (Jiggle knob on top back and forth. It will do the trick.) A older style rectangle shower cubical but nice and large. (Not as per photos on line.) The tiles, tray and shower hose were covered in black mould/ soap scum that had obviously been there a while. Hair in the water tray grill. A sticky red shaggy piled rug alongside the bed and a very worn bathmat by the shower (verruca heaven if not changed frequently.) We rolled them up & relegated to a balcony corner very quickly. The balcony furniture was basic plastic & the table needed a good scrub. (Not wooden or stylish as per internet). We purchased cleaning products (including a new toilet brush. Will leave that to your imagination) and did it ourselves as it was the only way we felt confident about hygiene for the duration of our stay. Cleaning was easy/did not take long and even the toilet came up fine with a bit of descaler. We have left cleaning products and new tea towel in No 12 & pool bar for next guests. Three light bulbs had blown. One being in the balcony bulkhead. We purchased a candle. The bedding & towels were clean but very faded and washed to death. There is no bar or kitchen (as advertised on internet). Instead, there is an old disused pool bar leading onto a small cracked crazy paved area adjacent to the swimming pool & away from the main hotel. (photos make it look great on-line.) The cooker and fridge have obviously been out of use for a long while and the Formica cupboards had that damp fusty smell of old age. Equipped with nothing but mismatched glasses. No hot water or cleaning products. No fire bucket/ blanket evident near BBQ oven. Upon our arrival the whole area was filthy and obviously is not maintained by the hotel. There was discarded (some mouldy) food, glasses, alcohol bottles, paper plates and overflowing ashtrays everywhere. Cobwebs indicated some trash had been there a while. (Staff did immediately clean up the area but we noted it was not done again during our stay.) (There is poetic licence to the photos of the dining area and menu on-line). There was always something we could eat at breakfast Our 1st breakfast did not go so well. My husband poured soured milk, that he thought was yogurt, onto cereal. (Thankfully a member of staff intervened after another guest complained.) Nobody ever offered us “free” room service. (on-line) The pool water looked clear so one assumes it had some level of filtration. We did see somebody cleaning the water surface with a children’s fishing net. My friend rented a Villa for a bachelorette party. We spent a great time in comfortable , clean and modern accommodation ,and most of all we liked that the villa has a swimming pool. The food was beautifully arranged and very tasty. Thank you for everything ,we will definitely come again.

Would definitely recommend to anyone!! Friends, family and elderly. The location was great, not long to Dubrovnik, bus stop is near and buses were cheap. The owners were wonderful and helped us with many things, even without asking. We even heard them arranging a free night for a couple whose flight got delayed. Beach is right down the street, and also a bigger grocery store. Great experiense!

We stayed for 10 days in a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom apartment in Villa AvantGarde. The place was perfectly situated, the apartment and private pool area were clean and tidy and the free breakfast was more than adequate!! As much as you wanted, and you were free to takeaway also!! The owners were courteous and helpful. We couldn’t have enjoyed our stay more. Highly recommended! Thank you we will definitely come back here!
