Stayed here as a multi-generational family for a couple of days in the Easter holidays and I would highly recommend. The service is outstanding and all staff should be commended for their attentiveness and professionalism, thank you. We stayed in a 2 bed suite which was perfect with our teen son as it had a separate single bedroom. Beds really comfy. The newly refurbished swimming indoor pool is lovely, no need to book. The thermal suite (saunas, steam, jacuzzi with a view) needs to be booked but we never struggled, even last minute - over 16 though. Gym was great? Nice set up, layout and kit. There was a table tennis table set up in one of the conference rooms which we found by chance and that was a nice addition! Easy walk to the beach, but if mobility issues not so. They even have dry robes and body boards you can borrow in reception. Really suits all ages to stay. Food was really good and good selection of vegan options too. 🙏

I booked afternoon tea at Saunton Sands Hotel for my family for my Mum's 70th birthday. Unfortunately, from the outset I was disappointed with the experience, and many aspects were not as I had hoped. I could not fault the food, the taste and presentation were beautiful. However, as a large table we were told we could not be seated near the windows and were in the corner. I had booked the hotel for this special occasion because of the beautiful views from the hotel, but were seated so that none of us could enjoy it. I appreciate practically that perhaps you can't have diners spread across the whole dining area, but all diners were in a row next to each other and it felt quite cramped in what is a large and spacious area, with plenty more window seats available. We had to repeatedly ask for more tea, and then were only given 1 small jug of milk and pot of jam for all of us. Which I'd imagine would have been the same given to a table a fraction of our size. When making a choice of where to spend a special occasion, I think you invest a lot of hope in how that day will go, and it fell way short of this. I have had many afternoon teas in other places, and would highly recommend most of them, but unfortunately if anyone asks I would not be recommending this one.

What a truly wonderful couple of days at this beautiful hotel. I read some of the reviews that were not very complimentary and wondered if they had stayed at the same hotel! From the moment we walked through the door we were met by smiling, friendly staff and a glass of Prosecco. Our bags were whisked to our room while we checked in. The room was perfect and had everything we needed in it. The bathroom even had the stunning beach view. Loved the comfy bed and big fluffy towels, very happy with the pod coffee machine. The restaurant meals were outstanding; Innovative flavours and beautifully presented. I was blown away by the ham hock terrine with mustard ice cream - it was divine! Excellent fresh produce that was well prepared. I can also thoroughly recommend the vanilla eclair with the salted caramel ice cream and caramel popcorn. So good I had to have it on both nights! We spent some time in the thermal spa- the jacuzzi has a stunning view of the beach. An early morning yoga class set me up for the day. Came away feeling totally relaxed and rejuvenated. Great location, exceptional staff and excellent food. Such a perfect find!

This was somewhere we always wanted to stay but sadly we were disappointed and would not return. We paid £410 for a midweek overnight stay with evening meal and breakfast. Our bedroom had yellow fluid seeping from the window recess, and a blood stained mattress which we found when we were making the bed the following morning. The main shower head in the spa was very rusty and dirty and not something I wanted to put my head under. I expected better from a high class hotel such as this. I am afraid it was overpriced and when we did explain these issues to the receptionist and show her photos, nothing was done other than her agreeing it wasn’t good enough. A real shame as some aspects were lovely including the restaurant dining experience.

My favourite hotel. Why? Art Deco Relaxed comfortable hotel on outstanding location, a beach that stretches forever . Every detail perfect, the crockery, the chandeliers and mirrored dining hall. Each staff member has impeccable manners without being intrusive. They handle toddlers and seniors with equal aplomb. Excellent dining. Whole establishment seems to have emerged from a Jeeves and Wooster novel. While it is certainly luxurious it is not stuffy. Came here for our honeymoon, back for our 40th Anniversary. I love this hotel.

We went to celebrate my big birthday. Previous hotels I've stayed at have made small gestures to celebrate but not this one which was a bit disappointing as small touches make a difference. The decor in the reception was nice and modern but didn't match the rest of hotel which was tired looking. The welcome on arrival was nice where we received a processco. It was a short walk to a nice beach. The spa was nice but no cups for a glass of water. We did go to sit but the pool area but had to move due to loud children. We enjoyed a nice meal and cocktails in the evening followed by the silent disco. The views from the hotel and our room were nice but our room at night was so hot and struggled to sleep even with window open. We enjoyed a nice breakfast the next day but one night was enough here.

Wanted to go for a nice coffee and lunch but on entering car park read that parking was £20 an hour! More than the coffee so drove out again. Such a shame as it was for a special occasion. It would be so easy to monitor parking in a way that allows patrons of hotel to park for free.

We stayed over the Easter w/e, with family and dog, in the Clovelly apartment. The location is great and you have access to the hotel and its facilities. Good parking and a short walk to the beach. Decent size. The short-comings were it was pricey and the apartment itself is tired and in desperate need of an update. Operationally, it also felt like something from the 90's almost, which is a shame. That being said, the staff were very friendly, welcoming and helpful. The pool is very nice and the restaurant good - we had dinner and breakfast, which we liked. We went on a walking tour offered by the hotel which we enjoyed and at no cost.
