Very atmospheric and cozy ryokan. Traditional style room and majestic mountains view are breathtaking. The food is fantastic, you dine privately in peace and also provided with unlimited amount of drinks for 90 minutes. There are private and common (men/women) baths available. Water temperature is comfortable and magically washes away your fatigue. Personnel is kind and helpful, they used translator to explain everything to me. I was provided with shuttle bus on check-in and check-out to nearby station (kawaryo onsen station). This place is perfect if you want to detox from city bustle and cleanse your thoughts. Nearby konbini is 1h away on foot (or 15 min on car) so I advise you to stock up your supplies in advance if you need any.

This was my first time going to Kusatsu Onsen. I had originally booked a different inn, but I changed to this one at the last minute because the reviews on other websites were very good, and breakfast was included and it was a little cheaper. After staying here, I definitely want to stay here again next time! The following is a long story, but I hope it was helpful. - About a 7-minute walk from the Yubatake. The inn is uphill from the Yubatake, but for someone in their early 30s, it wasn't too hard. Older people might get a little out of breath. - The inn only has stairs. The rooms only have a toilet, no bathroom. There are two private baths, and if they are available, you can bathe until 9am. Amenities include shampoo, conditioner, body soap, toothbrush, razor, hair band, samue, tabi socks, bath towel, face towel (no face wash or makeup remover) If you are planning to go to a day trip to the hot springs, it is recommended to bring a face towel from the inn (be careful not to forget to take it home!) The breakfast was so delicious and plentiful that it didn't seem like a light breakfast. It was filling. The building is like an old house, but it was meticulously cleaned I was impressed. There are few rooms and it is small, so I think it is recommended for those who want to stay with a small number of people. There are few reviews on this site, but there are many on a certain map, so I decided to stay there. Above all, the staff were very considerate, and I was very happy to be able to spend a quiet time even though it was close to the Yubatake.

You need to wear slippers to get in. The staffs can only speak little english, but they are very kind and polite. The room is huge, it's like an apartment. It also has nice snow view from window. And the location is very close to the main road. It also close to the bus station. The dinner and breakfast also tasty. Japanese fine dining haha.

This was my first and only stay at a ryokan so I don’t have much to compare it to. I chose this lodging because of the cats and good reviews on the food. The cats were really sweet and I enjoyed playing with them. I have 2 cats of my own so it was really nice. The food was so beautiful and delicious - the mushroom soup at dinner was amazing. I really enjoyed it. The private bath rooms were very convenient and open 24 hrs. I thought the facilities were clean and very pleasant. The location was very close to the central area and a quick walk to all the important sites including the bus station. The only comment I have was in the morning someone was smoking and the smell got ****** into the 2nd floor hallway so maybe more care should be taken to be sure the smoke stays outside. The host was so nice and sweet and I used google translate to ask questions. The matcha madeleines are so tasty I bought a box to take with me.

Kusatsu itself is a magnificent place. The hotel is located right in the center. The room type was traditional with futons, and we had a mountain view, which was stunning in the morning. The hotel is well-maintained. We absolutely loved the onsen at the hotel – it was incredibly enjoyable! It was clean, beautiful, and comfortable. I particularly want to highlight the breakfasts and dinners; the selection was absolutely superb. Highly recommended!

The rooms are very traditional, with an antique feel, and the courtyard is beautiful. The snow views and sunshine made me very happy. The hotel has three private onsen baths and two public ones, all of which are excellent. The private onsen in the room allows for a more relaxed experience. Everyone's service was also great and very polite. After soaking, I felt completely relaxed 😌

Excellent value for money, with a half-board package that included dinner and breakfast. Dinner was very generous, though the aftertaste was just average; the Jōshū beef was the highlight. Breakfast quality was superb. Very satisfied with the cleanliness and comfort.

We arrived early (about 11:00) at the ryokan and were met by a very helpful young lady receptionist who spoke good English. She accepted our luggage, arranged a ground floor room for us (my wife has difficulty climbing stairs) and recommended us where to eat and what to do. The room was clean and sizeable. The bed was comfortable. The ryokan provided a simple buffet breakfast (much to our surprise and delight).  It is located just a short distance from the Yubatake and is very convenient.  Overall, we are very happy with the ryokan.

The hotel is a bit of a drive from Karuizawa JR Station, about 35 minutes, and there's a toll fee. However, the scenery along the way is beautiful. Shiraito Falls is about 10 minutes away. The hotel parking lot is ample and very convenient. The hotel rooms are very spacious and comfortable. The hot springs are both indoor and outdoor, with an orange-brown color and a mild odor. Unfortunately, the outdoor hot springs don't allow for a view of the sky. The breakfast and dinner buffets offer a wide variety of options and are delicious. This hotel has a very resort-like feel and I'd definitely return if I had the chance. The hotel facilities are a bit old, but the location is excellent. The front desk even has staff who speak Chinese, and there's a great selection of free yukata to choose from right next to the front desk. Both breakfast and dinner are buffet-style, and the restaurant offers a rich variety of food, including all-you-can-drink draft beer.
