Le Grand Aigle Hotel & Spa

We arrived to a warm welcome from the staff. All the staff in the hotel were friendly & helpful. I think we had a double superior room. Rooms were very comfortable with pleasing decor. Plenty of space. No drawers, just shelves in the wardrobe. We had a big shower room. Our son had the same room type but had a bathroom which was smaller. He seemed to have a lot more storage for clothes & also an armchair in his room. Nice toiletries; liquid soap, hand cream, shampoo & shower gel all provided. The rooms were both equipped with a coffee / tea machine with plentiful coffee pods & tea bags provided. Mini fridge & hairdryer. Buffet breakfast was very good. Good coffee & teas, fruit juice, almond & dairy milk. Puree apples & peaches, fresh fruit salad, yogurts & fromage grains. Scrambled egg, bacon & hash browns, a selection of cold meats, various different breads, pancakes, crepes, muffins, pain chocolate & raisins & croissant with a good selection of jams, honey & chocolate spread. Evening meal was excellent. Fixed menu with choice of 2 main courses. No choice of starter or dessert. We could have raclette or fondue as an alternative but needed to order 24 hours ahead. Ideal ski in / ski out location as long as not too late in the season as the bottom slopes get a bit slushy. Only negatives are the wine prices. No carafes of house wine to purchase; only bottles starting from €30 for a bottle.

Not the 4* standards was expecting Room ok Bathroom ok again no room to manoeuvre We arrived at 10.15pm there wasn't anywhere around for food or anything in the area that was open that late, Even the hotel didn't have anything for guests arriving late Dining room got turned away as they were fully booked. Taxi was a big problem and waited ages for a taxi ,when we eventually got one Very expensive to go a 15 minute journey Spa well it's 45 mins for a jacuzzi and sauna in a little corner of the cave which is charged at €20 per person Very disappointed Musty smell on stairwell drainage or something

We had a really good time at the hotel, our room was spacious and clean. The personnel is very friendly and attentive. The breakfast is great, there’s a large choice. I would have loved to have boiled eggs though. You can have nice cocktails at the bar. The restaurant is also good!

We had a very pleasant stay of a week in the family room with two adults and two teenagers. A nice room on the 3th floor. The first days we didn't have enough warm water for a shower but after we mentioned it at tehe reception they fixed it and it was okay for the other days. The breakfast aswell as the dinner where superb. For the dinner we had each day a menu, but we may also pick something else from the dinner-cart (starter, main or desert) without extra cost. This was realy nice especially if the menu contain something what you prefer less.

The location is excellent, the whole hotel is tastefully decorated, the breakfast is very varied and complete on weekends, but the size of the bathrooms is tiny (my knees touch the shower screen of the bathtub when we are in the toilet. Impossible to be two in the bathroom, the shower bath is a bath and not a shower at all, just something to rinse off).

We were very disappointed by our stay at Le Grand Aigle. The bedroom and bathroom were tiny, with hardly sufficient room to get in or out of bed or even sit on the toilet. We had booked half-board and it gave us a very limited choice of menu. We were not allowed to choose items off the à la carte menu, Even if we offered to pay any difference in price. The lounge was closed until 16.00h, so there was no place to sit in the hotel during the day. The only positive was that the staff were very friendly and helpful.
