After nearly 10 days in Bristol, this hotel was the only one that felt unfriendly. The Indian front desk staff were smiling, but as soon as they saw our child, who studies locally, come to meet us, they repeatedly emphasized that the room was only for two people. It was completely absurd, as our child lives in their school dorm. Then, early the next morning, our child came from the dorm to discuss school matters in our room. A heavy-set Black cleaning lady asked to clean, so we told her to just clean the bathroom and leave the rest. Unexpectedly, after she left, a white staff member came up, very politely knocking on the door and asking, 'Has something happened?' This was truly unpleasant. But since they didn't ask directly, we didn't feel the need to explain anything. We felt very uncomfortable, like we were being monitored. At breakfast, the white woman seating guests was all smiles with foreigners but completely expressionless with us. The difference in attitude compared to locals was stark. As a loyal IHG customer, I've stayed at IHG hotels almost exclusively in the UK, and two out of four have given me strange looks, so I have to give a bad review. Another issue with this hotel is that the breakfast was truly awful, the worst I've had out of the four IHG hotels in the UK.
