I book this hotel everytime I go to Brookings

Exit 5 &6 were completely blocked by drifts. Exit 6 was propped open by snow and the -40 temps were making the hallway unbearable. I did let the front desk know upon check in. I used the conference entrance which was ok. Front desk very pleasant at checkin. La Catina staff very friendly and kind.

Check in was quick and easy. My room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. I had one issue with the tub but situation was resolved. I will stay here again in the near future.

It was comfortable however there are things that need to be updated in 228 some part of bathroom came apart, the tubs are outdated the shower not much pressure however staff was friendly

The management was very friendly and ready to accommodate any requests. There were smiles upon the staff’s faces and so indicating that they liked their job. The dining area had carpet with stains. Everything else was very clean. If the carpet was gone and a wood or another vinyl floor, it would be more efficient to clean and better to look at.

Honestly, this hotel could be great! But it's like nothing has been updated since 2009. While clean for the most part, our room was dingy and outdated... one of the picture frames was severly warped, the TV's color was distorted, the bathroom fan was falling off the wall, the paint badly needed touch up, the furniture was old and scratched.
Our room was adjacent to the pool... which is fine, but there was no sound proofing... and the curtains didn't black out the room.
The lazy river badly needs resurfaced, and didn't really "river". The splash zone water is cold - not great for little kids. There was no pool attendant - they have a great spot for someone to be selling wristbands, concessions, frozen drinks, etc... no one there. There were no towels at the pool.
With such potential, I truly don't know why they don't update EVERYTHING and charge at least double what they do. No one would bat an eye paying at least $200 per night for a nice updated hotel/convention center with a waterpark.

overall not a nice place, tv only had 4 channels, AC didnt work. awful smell throughout the whole place. hot water wasnt good. def will not be back.

When I checked in, I was telling the attendant that we came to swim and play on the slides. She failed to mention that there was no heat in the entire pool area, and everyone in there was wearing winter coats. When the children went down the slide. It dumps out onto a concrete area so right away one got hurt. The rooms were filthy. The halls were filthy. The locker rooms were disgusting. What a disappointment we checked out and left.

It is a shame this property has fallen to such a run down pit. The staff is very accomodating, but they take the brunt of dealing with dissatisfied patrons. We seldom complain, but we had no choice. We had to change rooms three times due to 1) a filthy, leaking toilet and a bug in the bathroom, 2) a room with no heat, and 3) a room with a bolt missing on the toilet seat and a heater that barely worked. A couple next to us also had to change rooms because some things weren't working in their room. The dining room was dirty with the same yuck on the floor remaining the entire five days we stayed there. At one time, this was a gorgeous facility, but it is no better now than a roadside dive motel. They discounted our stay without us asking them, but we won't go back unless major renovations are made. I wasn't going to leave a review, but I decided folks need to know what they are paying for, and the owner needs to make several serious improvements! Again, the staff was great, and we appreciated their kindness and patience!
