Anglers Rest Hotel

My daughter and I visted Anglers Arms on Sunday afternoon. It was very pleasant sitting on the shaded veranda with occasional gentle breeze on such a hot, humid day and listen to John Larder live music with a glass of wine. We decide to order a meal from a fairly extensive menu on the blackboard. A mistake. Meals are overpriced, and less than average in particular my daughter’s meal … a beetroot salad, bland, discernible amount of dressing, if any. She had 2 mouthfuls and out of politeness asked to put her meal into a takeaway container… which was promptly thrown into bin at home at a $25? That is a rip off! The neighbouring tables were also questioning the authenticity of the “home made” Tiramisu. What a shame, will come for a drink when there is music but will never order food at those prices and quality again. P.S. I booked via Email 2 seats for the Sunday, assuming the place may be quite full due to live music. Upon arrival .. neither the restaurant nor the bar had a booking in my name.

The Anglers rest is one of the most cleanest places we have stayed the linen was clean and fresh the shared bathroom was spotless and the bed and pillows were so comfortable, didn’t like the food to much but it’s not a criticism it just wasn’t to my taste the bar staff are very pleasant and most helpful would definitely recommend

This visit had everything in one place. A charming old fashioned pub with Accm too. But everything modernised and well maintained with real old fashioned service. And, don't let the shared bathroom accm put you off. I was very convenient and clean. The added benefit of the pub with great charm, beers and food and atmospere was great. Only negs was upstairs accm only. Parking was a paddock out back. We went to go on the Riverboat Postman. A great base to launch from.

This is a great local pub with everything you would expect. Live music, pokies, locals, pool tables and friendly service. But the standout here is the food. I’ve heard it’s a new chef and it’s fantastic. We’ve tried the usual pub fare, pizzas, laksa, Marina. Mussels, fish tacos and it’s all delicious. If your in the area it’s well worth a visit.

Staff assisting us for reception, food and general assistance were excellent. Very helpful with a room close to the toilets for my wife having some walking issues. Beds were very comfortable and the Hotel is in a peaceful location. Close to the train station is great. Parking right outside and pleasant locals. Lovely attached restaurant and bottle shop. The stay was perfect for our drive north.

They have a new Chef and the food was very tasty with ample portions. I had the Angus beef steak which was cooked very well. Tasty and little fat. Also the prawns were sweet and tasty. The staff couldn’t have been more helpful and friendly. I heartily recommend.
