It has so much potential to be a great local pub but the only space available is a small table to the left as you go in. They should make the area there a lounge area put dogs and eating into the lower bar area and get more trade. A pub rather than a restaurant. Phil the owner should listen!

I love to write a review like this as it is so rare to come across a place where you feel the care and love invested - if only all pubs/ inns/ hotels were run like the Weary Ploughman. Exceptional! A great location which is perfect for exploring the Brixham area. Staff: what lovely, friendly staff - just so nice! Room: spacious, nicely decorated. There are 6 in total. This is more of a restaurant with rooms and the rooms are great - not your corporate hotel style and feel more 'home-y' - we had a great view of Churston station. Evening food: for me food does not need to be 'posh' but does need to be well cooked. The menu here is exceptionally well done 'pub classics' (which almost does the menu a disservice as this is VERY good food). Fresh local ingredients, perfectly cooked, well-presented. The pizza menu is superb with some quirky additions (e.g. pulled pork, crackling, black pudding and apple puree) and possibly the best pizzas ever. All followed by some great puds. Plus if you like gin then they have 90+. They also have a very thoughtful veggie/ vegan menu. Breakfast: great choice of cooked options. What else to say? Faultless and one of the best places we have visited! Well done WP team - you're doing a fab job. I'd give you 6 stars if I could!

Food good, service awful.Makes you wonder how this pub survives.Staff couldn't wait to shut pub,10pm on a Saturday evening. Walked last orders as soon as Bill was paid.

A relaxing 5night stay one extra due to storm. Manager Mark could not do enough. Food and beer good and service. Pity the log fire was broken (glass) which would have added to the Christmas ambiance. A very reasonable room price by directly phoning.

Got back after midnight to find your key didnt open any if the doors had to wake the chef by banging the letter box for 45 mins in the rain. Pure avoidance when I wanted to complain the next morning. Staff member Kim was totally ignorant to our complaint saying we had to wait for owner to show up if we wanted a refund. Says it a few minutes walk to brixham but actually 45 min walk and stains on the bedding. Would not recommend to anyone. Dirty and dated

Well placed place to stay. Great Sunday lunch menu, excellent choice of roast with really nicely cooked fresh vegetables. The chef Justin helpful as all the staff there and made us having butties to take out for breakfast as the 8.30-9.30am slot a bit early for us. The rooms were a bit dated , could do with a freshen up but clean and warm and comfortable. The bar had great selection of drinks and it was easy to jump on a bus just outside to go into Brixham.

Recently visited pub for a meal Service very slow.. We did get the food it was very nice and reasonable quality Didn’t want to stay after meal as no atmosphere at all could do with some softer lighting and background music Very clean throughout but really wish this place could have more kerb appeal as exterior looks run down and uninviting When we first moved into village we didn’t even realise it was a pub. Thought it was a disused house Real shame as I do think they try hard to Please
