The Feathers Hotel, Adelaide

The only reason for one star is the food is good. The service is appalling. Of approximately 9 staff on duty only ONE could raise a smile. Her name was Bec. The rest of them - I can only imagine their sullenness springs from embarrassment at working there. Also, TWENTY DOLLARS for am Imperial pint of beer. TWENTY DOLLARS!!!!!!! That in itself is taking the p*^s. We ate in an inside bar area, looked nice - but for crumbs all over the seat and sticky ring marks on the tables. Chap on the table next to us actually had to ask someone to come wipe the tables. Ordered a shared starter and two mains. ALL the dishes came together. When questioned why that was so, the sullen answer was "because that's what we do". Me - "why??? This dish is clearly a starter, ordered from the starter menu!!!" Her reply "because this is the bar area". Yer wha??????? She offered to take away the mains but I immediately refused - goodness knows where they would have been taken and stored till being returned. Absolutely appalling. The one evening we had to relax and enjoy ourselves RUINED by incompetence and up themselves priced beer. NEVER again. And we're locals. Beyond disappointed.

We haven't been to The Feathers Hotel since they did their renovations!! First and foremost we were so disappointed with the food. We dined in the Greenways Restaurant. When our food came to the table the first thing we noticed that the plates were stone cold so, therefore, the food was not very hot. I did mention this fact to the waitress and all she said was that most of the hot plates had been used but that is no excuse for using COLD plates to serve on. Two of us had battered garfish which was barely warm and the batter was soggy!! The salad that came with it consisted of nearly all lettuce and two thin half slices of cucumber and no tomatoes!!! No-one came after finishing our main meal to ask if we wanted sweets or coffee!!! So we left very disappointed and wont be coming back!!

I can't fault the service and the atmosphere at this sprawling establishment, but the food is really disappointing! My friend had the $29 chicken shnitzel, which she reported was made of composite chicken like a chicken nugget. My margherita pizza was supposed to be topped with flor di latte but instead was so completely smothered with grated mozzarella cheese that it actually steamed the otherwise good pizza crust. I hope the restaurant will choose to offer food that is equal to the quality of the prices.

Lovely family lunch at Feathers Hotel , Burnside. Outstanding service received from Shane, Ilana and Steph. Food was great, very reasonably priced. Staff very friendly and made us feel so welcome and they were so very helpful. Repeat clients and we will certainly be back again and again. Highly recommended.

Very happy with the service from Mia and other staff with a table of 9 people. Food was lovely with large meals and minimal wait time. Good prices generally except the oysters were overpriced but tasty. Nice atmosphere. Air conditioning was directly on us which was quite cool for a rainy evening.

Have been to this hotel for dinner some years ago with a friend who lives nearby. Enjoyed our meal, good service. Nice restaurant, with easy parking. It was a cold night, and was very pleasant inside.
