Hoshikage Ryokan

I had a comfortable and relaxing stay.

We went there for a family trip. We enjoyed both breakfast and dinner, and the healing experience in the Hinoki bath was wonderful. My whole family was satisfied... We had a truly great stay. Highly recommend!

The hinoki tub was great and overall it was a good experience. The only downside was that the location was a bit difficult to get to by public transportation. Also, after checking in, while filling the hinoki tub, I found and picked up an eggshell. I wish they'd pay a little more attention to the cleanliness of the tub. Dinner and breakfast were decent.

My wife has been wanting to go there since we were dating, and I'm finally going now. The building has a Japanese feel from the exterior to the interior. The interior is all wooden, giving it a cozy and warm feel. It was nice that there was a bath in each room, and when I filled it with warm water, the woody scent was so nice. The heating isn't underfloor heating, but a ceiling-mounted heater that turns on and off to maintain the temperature. The bathroom and toilet had a luxurious feel. We were provided with welcome tea and snacks. Dinner was a small portion for a man, but the grilled beef, sashimi, abalone, salad, and other dishes were well-balanced, making it a perfect meal. I'm not an expert on sashimi or meat, but the sashimi was fine. The beef had a slight odor, but it wasn't spoiled; it was a unique beef smell. Some people might not notice it because it's a unique smell. It was clean inside and out, and the owner and the room service staff were very friendly. On the first floor, there were Japanese costumes available for photo ops. If you weren't satisfied with the ones provided in your room, you could exchange them for the ones on the first floor. It was a unique and fun experience. The best part was soaking in the cypress bath and enjoying a delicious dinner.

From check-in, the service was friendly and explained everything step by step, ensuring a comfortable stay. The room didn't look very clean, though, as the floor was a bit stained. Breakfast and dinner were, needless to say, delicious. They had a strong Japanese sensibility, the food was very satisfying, and the seasoning was just right. I was worried that Japanese food would be too sweet and salty, but that wasn't the case at all. Dinner was delivered to my room, and breakfast was served in the first-floor restaurant. After breakfast, you can take a glass of milk to enjoy. This was another example of how Japanese culture was well-incorporated. The overall atmosphere was very Japanese, and I had a wonderful indirect experience of being in Japan. The cypress bath had a wonderful cypress scent, and there were no bugs. However, the water was very hot, so you had to mix it with cold water before using it. Wearing the yukata and taking pictures was also a nice experience. Overall, I had a very satisfying experience. I highly recommend it!

Honestly, I felt the price was high and I wasn't satisfied. It's not even near Seoul, but in Gijang, Busan, and the facilities, service, and breakfast were all poor for the price. 1. I thought I received a significant discount when I booked, but the additional charges on site were even higher. There were four of us in a six-person room, and even though the basic rate was for two, we were charged an additional 400,000 won for two additional people, including breakfast. So, my first complaint was that I ended up paying more than the discount. 2. If the facilities were as advertised in the photos or advertisements, or if the food was good, I would have been truly satisfied. Honestly, the photos seemed to be the best, and I doubted whether the positive reviews were genuine. I found a dead bug next to the bed, the toilet in this expensive room was cracked, and the cup was dirty. The only good thing was the outdoor bath, but even that was leaking water so it wouldn't fill up completely. Honestly, for this price, I'd be much better off going to a place near Seoul. 3. I stayed for two nights and three days, and the breakfast was always the same, so I guess the original menu never changes. But they charge 40,000 won per person for a Japanese meal, even for a small portion. (Even for children.) At this price, it should have been a buffet. For four people to pay 200,000 won for one breakfast, it was a bit disappointing. The breakfast was truly absurd, and I was even more shocked to see the same menu for two days in a row. Anyway, I sincerely have no intention of returning, and I can't believe it costs more than going to Amanti in Gijang, Busan.

Everything was great, especially the water was clean and the interior was well-decorated, and there were many traces of effort put into the ingredients for the dinner. One thing I wish was that they provided a glass of draft beer with dinner or offered a reasonable selection of sake. It was also a shame that there was no open-air bath. I had a good rest and am leaving now. ♥️
