George Inn

I can’t praise The George Inn, Sarah and her staff enough. Connor, the chef, created a special vegan meal for my fussy vegan daughter and the rest of us - 6 in total - chose from the menu. In all cases our food was delicious and well presented. Sarah is a fantastic host and we all enjoyed a wonderful evening in the inn’s courtyard

Our 2nd visit here for food and yet again didn't disappoint. The Sunday lunch was absolutely amazing. Chicken was plentiful and very juicy, excellent selection of vegetables and both roast and mashed potatoes. The stars of the show though have to be the yorkshire pudding and the gravy (wow!). Would definitely recommend a visit!

Stopped for lunch with ten adults , four kids and a number of dogs but no problem for the staff at the George Inn. Loved the vintage fireplace and cosy atmosphere, staff were friendly and food was excellent. Inn was quiet between Christmas and New Year but just a hop and a skip to the historic local church.

Booked a table for 30th Dec, had an email conversation with the landlord. Arrived to find not serving food and the landlord complaining about having no staff all day and "someone" hadn't put it in the book or they would have called. When I asked his name, it was the landlord who I had been emailing. No apology offered. Been the George several times before, however current landlord has destroyed this lovely village pub. Apparently they are leaving soon, so hopefully will return to a nice place to visit. Until then will avoid. Terrible service.

After discovering that the chef deliberately contaminates the meals (despite allergens and dietary requirements being mentioned), I'd never visit again. Using animal products in the vegetarian soup is just one example, the chef suggesting that we "need the protein". He's a chef, not a dietician.

Disgusting place, the chefs attitude towards vegans and vegetarians is so rude and abhorrent. It seems they are leaving next month and can't come too soon. It's really bad when you can't go for a meal without getting attitude for being vegan and can't trust the food you are being dished up. If he can't take this seriously then imagine what could happen with a dairy, gluten or nit allergy.
