Hotel du Bord de Mer "Le Vanille"

Clean. Helpful staff. No frills hotel. Excellent location on the corniche across the street from an excellent beach and a great view of the Mediterranean. Propre. Hôtel sans prétention. Excellente emplacement sur la corniche en face d'une beau plage et une superbe vue sur la Méditerranée. Quelques suggestions: étagères et cintres partout pour avoir plus d'espace. Grand table de nuit.

I stayed 6 nights on bed-only basis, via ***********. The hotel is easily reached by public transport from Nice airport; the nearest train station, Cros de Cagnes, is approx. 15-20 mins walk. I was delighted to be allocated a dual aspect, top floor room with large balcony. For some reason (?low season), the central heating was not working & the room, particularly the bathroom, were distinctly chilly! I was provided with a small, mobile electric radiator. The sea view rooms overlook the busy road, Promenade de la Plage, so bring earplugs if you’re noise sensitive. One negative was there being no kettle in the room, but the bar staff kindly provided me with hot water to take up to my room. Continental b’fast is taken in the large enclosed terrace at street level & was what one would expect … plentiful fresh baguette, a choice of delicious pastries, excellent orange juice, coffee, choice of yoghurts … & excellent value at 8€/day. Only 2-3 tables were occupied. As per the title of my review, I felt very at home in this hotel & would definitely stay here again. Suggestions of places to visit: Haut de Cagnes, Eze & its fabulous tropical plants’ gardens, Villefranche-sur-Mer, St-Paul-de-Vence, Nice. The latter has a HoHo sightseeing bus.

This is a lovely little hotel by the sea. The staff were so friendly and helpful. The room was tastefully decorated, and kept immaculately clean throughout our stay. The bathroom was great, with a powerful shower and shower gel/body lotion provided. The room also has a handy mini fridge. The rooms at the front are probably quite noisy as on the road, but the view is worth it. We felt very much at home during our stay. This is a hotel which is doing everything just right. If I return to the area, I would stay there again!

If I knew I was coming back to Cagnes anytime soon I probably wouldn’t give out the name of this hotel but kept it to myself for future purposes. Vanille is very nice little hotel by the sea promenade, so dip to stony beach is easily done before breakfast. Our room was splendid for us and 2 teenagers, two separate rooms, though without doors, bathroom very spacy. Price was very attractive, ofcourse being low season. Hotel has parking place next to the hotel, which I suppose is especially handy in the high season but now as well. Breakfast (additional cost) is basic containing few essentials, seems to be the french way, not too much to choose from. Service was very friendly. Distance to Nice airport is short, we had early flight and driving to airport easy and fast. Cagnes-sur-Mer doesnt have to offer besides the sea, which obviously is not that big of a thing in low season, but I suppose it’s easy to make trips by car from there. Antibes/Cagnes/Juan seem to have plenty of foreigners compared to some other cities we saw north of sea in Provence, ie more french than these beachy places. Anyway, Vanille is quite nice and recommendable place to stay.
