Just returned from a week staying at globales america Hotel in calas de mallorca. It was advertised as a 4 star all inclusive with tea and coffee making facilities in room and private beach! Untrue, coffee machines in public areas with cheap coffee. I can honestly say I have stayed in better 3 star accomodation. The hotel was clean but basic, however, when it came to the food it was very cheap and poor quality ingredients, lacking flavour and always cold. It didn't have a fresh food pass, so no fresh omelettes at breakfast or special food cooked infront of you. The chaos and noise at mealtimes was uncomfortable to eat in, not just crowds of noisy guests but staff banging and clattering dishes loudly. People grabbing and pushing, long queues and trolleys pushing through. For 4 star I would expect a drinks waiter at evening meal. The flow of the food bars seemed all wrong,, for example, butter nowhere near the bread, so you have to go hunting for things (adding to the chaos) while your cold food gets even colder. They didnt cater for vegetarians well, we had one vegetarian in our party and one night in the whole week they had a vegetarian stand with a lentil stew, again lacking flavour. Some starters such as chickpea salad contained small bits of ham. Mexican night was a very salty mince. We ended up eating out most nights because we found the restaurant in hotel too disappointing and stressful. So ended up spending more than planned. The bar staff were all very friendly and the kas beer good but all other drinks especially cocktails had cheap ingredients. Locally the shops and food places were also disappointing. Typical Irish and all day breakfast type bars which looked run down, apart from a small restaurant called Taste hidden amongst the bars and tacky souvenir shops. We also ate at vibes in Portocristo and Mistral in Porto Colom all of which were excellent, maybe the hotel manager should take his catering staff to show them how its done! Talking of the manager we only seen him on the day we were leaving. No private beach, however, there is a lovely beach with snack bar and only about €15 for 2 beds, parasol and safe. Great value for money. The location is beautiful with picturesque scenery. The pool areas, 2 big pools with entertainment and a small paddling pool for little kids but sometimes the music played was very inappropriate using the N word. Limited parasols which are taken early by people hanging towels on them but plenty of beds. Pool bar same buffet of salad, chips, cardboard pizza and croquettes or battered veg everyday. The toilets around the public areas had glass doors and you could see everyone using the facility if you were waiting your turn. Our room seemed small but clean. Bathroom had a strong drains smell and you could hear others using their facilities like they were in the next cubicle of a public toilet. You could also hear conversations and other amusement going on in other rooms too and I mean very clearly! Fridg
