When we arrived we were greeted by a bellman who took our temperature and provided a luggage a ticket. When we came back out to grab our luggage, we gave him our ticket. As we were waiting, 2 other staff started yelling (I do say this loosely but it was aggressive) at us to “show him our luggage”. We explained we had already given the bellman our ticket and again, “just show me which one is yours!”. What in the world is the point of a luggage ticket if you aren’t even going to use them. I have a lot of valuables with me and if you’re going to make me part with my bag, you sure as sh!t better not just let people “pick their own bags” without any proof! This basically sent the precedent for the entirety of our stay.

If you have any injury, issue walking or any sort of disability, AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS (and even if you don’t).

They put us on the first floor. In order to get to my room we had to take the elevator up to the 2nd floor just to go down several twists and sets of stairs in order to get down to the 1st floor. We were starving we went to find something to eat in this “AI resort”. This place is maze. Every place we ended up finding didn’t even open until 6. The buffet was open but even as hungry as I was, I would NEVER be THAT hungry. We finally found the “snack bar”. The drinks were on par with Tang + an oz of Popov. We got the nachos and burger. Both were cold and dry. We head back to our room and to call it unimpressive would be a compliment. The cabinet broke when I opened it.The bottle opener was so corroded it broke the beer bottle. The outlets were so corroded that they no longer worked. The tv had several months of dust and rust on it.The baseboards were DISGUSTING.The sheets and pillows had hair and stains. Our phone didn’t even work so we couldn’t call anyone for help.

The thing I was MOST excited about was the plunge pool. It was so murky that the step/seat in there was barely visibly. The deck was broken and decaying.

When I explained the state of our room they upgraded us to the “honeymoon suite” which would be ready in 20-30 min. We waited in our room for 45 minutes before our patience was up. We can’t call, remember? So we lugged our luggage back up to the lobby and asked him what was going on. If the room isn’t ready, It’s not a big deal. But don’t leave me waiting in my room with no update Finally get to the room and it is big and the view was GORGEOUS. But… what’s a big room without lighting and a place to sit? I immediately checked this bed and there was NOTHING COVERING THE MATRESS PAD! They said they would come and fix it. For dinner we went to Spice. The beer was warm, The ragoons were practically empty. I’ve never seen a more thin piece of salmon on top of a sushi roll before, the majority of the roll was cream cheese and rice. However, the tostada was so delicious we ended up order 6 more and the sweet cream dessert was AMAZING. When we got back, they left us a sheet. They couldn’t even be bothered to make the bed correctly for us? We had to call back down to send someone up. There was no silverware or stir sticks for the coffee (this is petty, I’m aware, but its just a collective issue at this point). The bed was REALLY HARD. So, just something to be aware. The only furniture inside of it was a DISGUSTING, small chair, table and tv hardly viewable from bed. Be careful because there’s this small step up from the “bedroom”and there is ZERO OVERHEAD LIGHTING. The only lights in the room were the 2 reading lamps on the bed. They had to use a flashlight when they came to deliver us a singular lamp.We did room service for breakfast. It wasn’t horrible, but it wasn’t good. The fruit was very fresh. Eating without a table and chairs was annoying. I had drinks from probably 6 different bartenders before I found one that could make a proper drink. One of the best mojitos I’ve ever had. We did “preferred club”. They don’t check so there's no point. Don’t let the “dress code” deter you.

It's a great place to spend your vacation at Cancun. The pools and beaches are amazing, and the service is immaculate. Highly recommend for a great price.

The food is not good, and the food is very slow, waiting in line for the meal, and having dinner at 11 o'clock in the evening, there are few types, and a small restaurant does dinner in the evening, which is far from the five-star hotel marked.

Spent a week at the Now Emerald Cancun in the beginning of June. We usually stay in the Riviera Maya area, but tried something new to hopefully get away from the sargassum. And in that regard, the resort was fine - little sea**** and a nice beach. But the resort itself was dated, services were inconsistent, and food was sub-par. Room: we were in a Preferred Club Premium with Plunge Pool room. We were on an upper floor with a nice view. Some people we spoke to said that the couple of thunderstorms we had in the evenings flooded their floor, so I would definitely not have liked to be on a lower level. The room was OK, although the only furniture other than the bed was an easy chair. It would have been nice to have either a second chair or a small sofa so that both my wife and I could have a place to sit other than one having to be on the bed. The privacy lock on the door didn't work, and when I put in a maintenance request to fix it, even though the app said the work was complete, it still didn't work. There is no safety chain or anything, so I was a bit leery of not having some sort of additional lock. There was a Nepresso style coffee maker in the room, which we thought would be great since we're both big coffee drinkers. But the machine barely worked, sometimes making a full double shot of espresso but other times only dribbling out a few drops of coffee and making a mess of leaked water on the tray under the machine. And housekeeping only brought coffee pods once during our week long stay - we had to ask for them most of the time. Housekeeping also was inconsistent about replacing towels, so we had to ask for more on a couple of occasions, and one day they didn't make up the bed. Pools - there is only a swim-up bar at the main pool. It has a waterfall that cascades over the entire length of the bar, so if that's operating, you can't really walk away from the bar with a drink easily. The swim-up bar is also separated from the surrounding pool such that you need to either hop up over the pool wall or get out and re-enter the bar pool area if you want to go there, which I found annoying. The adults only pool is 8 or 9 feet deep for about half of the pool area, which might be ok if you want to swim some laps for exercise, but which was mostly a waste since no one really used that part of the pool. Bar service at the pools was mostly good, although better at the main pool than the adults only. Food - probably the biggest area of concern at the Now Emerald. The buffet was typical of Cancun all inclusives, although somewhat small and with less selection than I had expected. The Italian restaurant was a complete fail, bringing us the wrong food, then not bringing the appetizers we ordered, then finally bring the correct entrees after a long wait. And it struck me that, for an Italian place, they really had no Italian entrees on the menu. We had once nice meal at the French restaurant, but it was only open one night out of the 7 we were there. We arrive at what we thought at the least a 4 star rating hotel. It should not be rated but closed. The rooms are nasty, mold in the bathroom, floors crumbling, the seating stained. If you have hip trouble or minor trouble with lifting your leg, this is definitely a problem. You have to climb into the dirty tub to take a shower. The was a power outage at the hotel, not the town, just this hotel. I complained to the concierge with no resolution regarding the bathroom. Had to go to management twice regarding the staff racist attitude towards us.

Overall the resort was very nice. The hotel is a little outdated but I didn’t have any major issues. I wasn’t sure if they were preparing for renovations like other Now resorts. The restaurants were also very good. I especially loved the Asian restaurant. The sunset views are spectacular! The restaurant is on the upper level with no fans or ventilation so it does get hot. But it did not prevent me from dining there several times! I loved the Mexican restaurant also! Excellent menu, great service and atmosphere! The French restaurant was very good as well! The entertainment was also very good! There was a fire show and Mexican Night featuring traditional songs and dances. I met wonderful people from all over the world and my fitness classes were popular and everyone seemed very easy going and accommodating.

The facility is large. The buildings are old and need serious renovations. The room, lobby, restaurants, everything is outdated. The food at restaurants are mediocre. They have blue and black wristband and and regular customers wear blue band and these people are not allowed to enter certain restaurants that are specifically for the black wristband customers, which is really annoying. The coffee shop at the lobby area is for the black wristband so I was not allowed to buy any coffees. Nothing special about this place. The pool is large but just noisy with DJ all day long. If you need peaceful and quiet hotel, this is not the place to be. We were sent by our airline when our flight got canceled. No way we would not choose this place for our vacation.
