when in Cannes, we use to go to the Gray d'Albion (THE best hotel in Cannes) but it was closed for the winter so we decided to try Le Canberra to spend my birthday. Wrongest decision!!! The hotel has no view of the sea and some of the rooms overlook rue d'Antibes that is very crowded and loud. The reception looks like the one of a 3-star hotel and I had the impression that the breakfast buffet is prepared in the same area. When we declined an upgrade to one of the rooms facing rue d'Antibes, as consolation we were given 2 - T W O - vouchers for 1 - O N E - drink each at the bar (2 drinks in 4 days of staying) and 2 chocolates. When we were proposed a parking open space for 35 € day (nearby garage costs 28 €) we accepted since we were tired but... attention! the hotel charged us 105€ at once and not at the ckeck-out. Our room was nice and clean but really cold so we had to request a small heather. At 01:30 in the night I was extremely sick and so we decided to go back to Milano since I had a raging fever that turned out to be COVID. Once home, I sent an email requesting the reimbursement of the remaining 2 nights offering to provide an official proof of illness. The answer was that the hotel was sorry to hear about my sickness but the rate was non refundable-non changeable. 7 hours at Le Canberra costed me 388 €, can you believe it? So, if you want to stay at Le Canberra (but I do not see why you would like to stay there), be prepared to a insipid, insignificant, lousy "3-star posing as 4-star" hotel. And do not forget to check your health before making a reservation!
