Shearwater Cottages

Staying at Shearwater Cottages was a huge disappointment as the cottage was so dirty and uncared for. Once we were there, we had no other options and spent a lot of first day cleaning. Disgusting, uncleaned fridge; carpets with huge stains on them; cobwebs everywhere; layers of dirt and grime on most of the surfaces; lots of mold. There was no drinkable water, so we had to boil everything. The neglect of the property is also evident by the uncleared vegetation taking over the long, narrow access track. With the vegetation like that, and the poor track, the place is a fire trap. This place has really gone downhill, as you can also see from other review sites. Avoid. Not worth it at all. So expensive for what you get - no one wants to get sick from their accommodation, and with that level of dirt and filth, it is highly likely!

The cottage was so dirty it was hard to believe this was operating as a serious business. The fridge was full of food detritus, the kitchen benches dirty, the crockery and cutlery dirty, all the surfaces were covered in thick layers of dust, the shower base covered in mould, the carpet badly stained, the windows not cleaned in ages and it was like looking out through fog, the BBQ rusted and full of rat poo, the grass around the cottage high and a fire hazard with no evacuation plan. It was hard to believe the owner could charge a high daily fee for such an unclean and unkempt place. There was no drinkable water provided as the water filter was too dirty to use. The Council should place a ban on letting out these dirty cottages till the owner can demonstrate a capacity to keep the cottages clean and hygienic and manage the surrounding grassland for both personal hygiene purposes and bush fire safety.

Cancelled my $480 booking and was told I could rebook at ANYTIME! Went to rebook and was told it was invalid! Had no correspondence at any time staying my booking would become invalid! $480 down the toilet! These people are thieves!
