My wife and I booked two rooms at the Crown and Castle, for a short break with my son and his girlfriend last summer (sorry, I'm a bit late with the review) The hotel is charmingly situated right next to Orford castle, in the centre of the picturesque village, and a short walk from the harbour. We booked a deluxe village and superior sea view rooms. Our room, the deluxe village room, was very spacious, beautifully furnished in light colours, and had a great view of the village square and church in one direction and the castle in the other. My sons room was equally good and, as the description said, had a great view of the river estuary out to sea. We had booked on a dinner, bed and breakfast basis, so we had a chance to sample the food in the restaurant. Our meals were excellent. A lovely dinner menu to choose from and an equally good selection at breakfast (full English for me!). All in all, we had a great short break at this delightful hotel and will definitely return. Great location, friendly service, good food. Highly recommended.

We enjoyed our stay very much, particularly the delicious food in the restaurant and the service by all the staff who were very helpful to my wife Jacqueline who is disabled. We would certainly recommend the hotel to our friends.

It was great to return to the county of my birth and the beautiful village of Orford. This hotel is nice and the staff are lovely. However, i do feel that the rooms, despite being recently upgraded I believe, still have a way to go yet in terms of what you might expect for a hotel in that area. They are fine but lacking a bit in those little touches of luxury you would want and I was a bit alarmed at the amount of cobwebs on the inside of the windows and in the shower. I did not eat in the restaurant at night as I found the menu a bit limited but the breakfasts were superb and I can't recommend the eggs benedict enough. The hotel is a gentle stroll from the quay and the view from my superior sea view room was gorgeous. I stocked up with goodies from the Pump House bakery and Pinneys before I left - both of which are worth a visit if you enjoy good food. I had a lovely stay overall and the staff were all so friendly and accommodating. I am not sure if I would return to this particular hotel again but I am fussy and, as I said, I couldnt fault the staff or the location.

Pleasant ,helpful staff . Good breakfast . Dinner very bland - accompaniments to pork loin sounded delicious but we’re in fact quite tasteless . Garden room Iken very tired looking & in need of an upgrade with more attention to detail . Comfortable bed but foam pillows overstuffed & unyielding. Missing door blind discovered late in the day meant rapid improvisation with bath towel& coat hangers required to preserve a degree of privacy !

i have stayed here on a number of occasions and have always really enjoyed the experience. This is down to the excellent service provided by the staff together with great accommodation and delicious variety of food on offer.
