The room is simple and elegant, clean and tidy, warm and romantic. The butler-style service is meticulous and makes people feel at home. The hotel has an excellent environment, embedded in a wonderful hillside, surrounded by trees and green grass, with cattle and horses roaming behind it. The Western-style breakfast is delicious and hearty, and the service is attentive, making people forget to leave.

Absolutely wonderful stay 2 night at Cringletie .. our first two nights in Scotland and it could not have been better. After a booking mixup, we were put in the Melrose suite. An unnecessary and unexpected upgrade made by the incredibly kind woman at the front desk. It was an incredibly comfortable room with a spectacular view, very comfortable bed and wonderful, plush towels! The breakfasts were very delicious..plenty to choose from, perfectly cooked .. a perfect way to start the day. Thoroughly enjoyed chatting with Hubert, who could not have been friendlier. Be sure to stroll the paths thru the woods and check out the walled garden. I have never seen so many daffodils! Just spectacular. I hope I can return someday. It was a pleasure to stay there and thank you so much to the very kind staff.

We booked somewhere a lot more expensive than we'd usually stay, for a special weekend. Part of the reason we booked Cringletie was the Snowdrops and they have a superb display. The hotel (and location) itself is lovely, but the real charm is the excellent staff, unfailingly helpful and polite, usually friendly as well. All the food was very good too, (2 mealtimes). Very minor quibble was the hilariously small gowns/slippers provided in the room - both were the same size, we checked! We both would like to return and I can't give them a better compliment than that.

We spent a wonderful Hogmanay at Cringletie House. The hotel had a special Hogmanay program with guests arriving on the 30th December and departing on the 2nd January. All the meals were included, with a lovely dinner each evening preceded by a cocktail reception hosted by the owners of the hotel, Bill and Ann Cross. Each day also had its own activities including archery, falconry and a cookery demonstration. With only 14 rooms the hotel has an intimate feel and you certainly got to know your fellow guests, particularly when practicing for the ceilidh on New Year's Eve! This is not an "all singing, all dancing" hotel, for example, there is no gym or spa, but it is run more like a "house party" with the focus on personal attention and a warm welcome. Most of the fellow guests were couples although there were two families, including ourselves, and while this is perhaps not an obvious destination for younger guests the activities did manage to span the wide range of ages. Perhaps the best recommendation is that many of the guests were regular visitors to Cringletie House, and indeed by the time we left on the 2nd January half of the rooms had already been booked for the next Hogmanay!

A Sunday Gourmet treat for my husband's birthday. The hotel itself is the epitome of a Scottish baronial mansion (castle). Very grand and also very comfortable and with the added bonus of a lift. The staff were all welcoming and instantly put us at ease. Our room was splendid and very well appointed. The nine course tasting menu was delicious from start to finish as were the paired wines. Each course and wine was explained and staff were happy to answer any questions. The breakfast was simply superb ! Staying here was indeed a special treat. We reflected that given the standard of accommodation, food, wine and the outstanding staff, it was good value. I do not doubt that we'll be back.

This is the second time we have stayed at Cringletie and both stays have been exceptional. The location and facilities are superb with comfortable beds and spacious rooms and suite. The walks around the estate are perfect for building up your appetite for the wonderful food served both at breakfast and dinner. The highlight of both stays however has been the staff. Without exception they are friendly, welcoming and helpful. We were staying for a family wedding within Peebles and we were accommodated with an early check in for both rooms with absolutely no fuss or trouble. It was a delight to stay here and we will stay here again when in the area.

We chose Cringlettie for our wedding and were very pleased we did! We chose the ultimate intimate wedding package as we wanted to get married without fuss but to have the ceremony in a lovely setting. From the moment we arrived we were welcomed and shown to our suite. Everything was taken care off for our special two days, from the champagne and chocolates in the room on arrival, tasting menu’s the night before, the ceremony and tasting menu with wine flight on our wedding night! We both felt so relaxed the whole time, this was due to the all the staff who couldn’t have been nicer! Kirsty supported the wedding planning and any requests we had during our stay and a huge thankyou to her for all her planning which made our wedding go smoothly! If you’re wanting to get married, whether it’s just the two of you or a larger wedding we would definitely recommend! The staff, food, the hotel itself and its grounds makes it the perfect place and we are so glad we chose Cringlettie House to get married!

What a lovely find in the Borders area of Scotland. Situated just outside of Peebles, this is a beautifully restored country inn with friendly and helpful staff. We stayed for one night in one of the 15 rooms -- it was spacious, was well-appointed, and had a fabulously deep soaker tub. The grounds are lovely and include a walled garden. We had the pre-fix dinner -- the food is locally sourced and it was excellently prepared. We will definitely visit Cringletie again when we return to Scotland.

Our stay at Cringletie was made special by the attentive care of the staff, the quality, presentation, and cleanliness of the rooms, and the beautiful setting of the house. There were personalised touches included throughout our time at Cringletie, and I would thoroughly recommend this stay.
