The building is beautiful and location fabulous but the human element did not come up to expectations, we went for a birthday party as a large group, all staying in the hotel, the meal was pre booked but took a long time to serve waiting a good half hour for sweet to arrive, we had a fab birthday party but that was down to the guests and not the hotel, the food was average and I had expected more The room was good, large with a super king bed & the bathroom was also big with a double basin & double shower but a bit more attention to cleaning would be wise with thick dust on top of the shower fittings, there was also only one bath robe in a double room, we also didn’t realise that you have to request your room to be served every day rather than just coming back to a tidy room which I would expect in a room priced at £220 per night, the breakfast was average much like the other meals and we booked in the restaurant on the 2nd evening hoping that the previous nights meal was due to serving a large amount but we were very disappointed for a second time, we chose lamb cutlets off the menu only to find that they were off the menu replaced by roast lamb which was overcooked and dry and at £26 per portion was also overpriced but we didn’t want to drive into town as we wanted to have a drink The pool & spa area was good and seemed well managed but the atmosphere in the hotel including the dinning room was silent and no soul which did nothing for the flow of conversation, I expected a lot more from this hotel, the party was brilliant but the booked music was asked to finish early as there had been a complain but if they want silence in the building they shouldn’t book parties We will not be returning
