We love Porters Lodge. It's ideal for 'simple' and social family holidays, with the large dining/play room upstairs, where you can meet others if you like to and the downstairs game room for youngsters where they usually team up with other kids. Simple, because it's a mountain lodge with bunk beds and shared bathrooms, but in all other respects well equiped, and luxurious with cooked dinner etc.

Our trip would not have been as fulfilling without Porters. With the kind staff, the polite patrols, the cafe welcoming us with a smile, delicious meal , Safely driven shuttle bus ,the natural atmosphere, and the child-friendly environment, we would like to thank Porters and recommend them to everyone.

Cozy lodge. Nice food. Friendly staff. Light broken above bed but staff gave me a torch to use to read with. Beds shook whenever kids next door jumped around. Noisy. Would have liked some light snacks for sale such as crisps or nuts. As not allowed to bring any food at all. Was charged twice for accomodation. Still have not been paid back. It’s been two weeks! Have been in contact numerous times.😡

My favorite stay I had in New Zealand! Set in the mountains, this place was pretty cool to wake up in, and the room I was in was clean and comfortable. Had a very nice night of rest, and the food in the morning was amazing! I didn't stay for long, but I wish I could have!

It's a nice accomodation in a very nice area, with resto and bar. We had a short 3 day holiday with 2 kids, very friendly and helpfull staff.

This was our favorite lodging of our two week holiday in NZ! The summer weather was rainy and cold when we arrived, meaning we had to stay inside after arrival. The lodge was located in a gorgeous spot high up in Arthur’s Pass, removed from the highway. Our group of ten split into two bunk rooms, which were clean, well-equipped, and had spectacular views out the large windows. We were warm in the lodge, which had clean restrooms and showers and a fun game room downstairs with a pool table, dart board, games and a TV. The restaurant and bar served up delicious food and drinks for dinner and breakfast, at an affordable price. Dunney and the other staff were super friendly and hospitable. Castle Hill and Cavestream were less than 20 minutes away, providing fun adventures very nearby. 10/10 experience at Porters Lodge!

Extremely welcoming staff. Comfy homelike feel. Great for hiking or staying near Castle Hill. Sound insulation between rooms could be better but all in all it is an affordable welcoming place to stay. Slept well! Showers were hot and towels were supplied.
