Nice cabins in a quiet place outside the busy Cat Ba town.with lovely friendly owners. We could rent a scooter at the location to explore the island. We were not sure how to organize the next step of our trip and Ming, one of the owners, made great effort to ensure that everything was arranged perfectly.

We spent three nights at Joystay in Cat Ba. The homestay is well located, away from the bustle of the town, and close to a small beach, with a bus stop nearby. The wooden cabins are very comfortable, with instant hot water for showering (something we appreciated in the slight chill of winter), AC and heater, and comfortable bed and mattress. It was spotlessly clean. Our host, Mr Minh, was wonderful. He arranged taxis, outings and bus transfers for us, and shared a lot of useful local knowledge. He was always around to greet us cheerfully at breakfast and when returning from an excursion. Breakfast was included in the room price and was good value. There is also a dinner menu available, with options for vegetarian, different types of meat, and various dishes. The quiet location meant that we could really "chill", while having easy access to the National Park and boat activities (not more than 15 minutes' drive by scooter or car). Guests can also hire scooters from Mr Minh to explore the area.

A great complex with beautiful bungalows. Unfortunately it's a bit old and doesn't quite match the photos anymore and it smells unpleasant. Friendly owner, staff and good food. Unfortunately we had to cancel the trip because the electrics were out on the entire island for two days. it was impossible to sleep in the bungalows and it would be too late to respond to find a solution. In addition, the owner has chosen who he wants to refund 50% and who not. You can rent a scooter directly to explore the island, but unfortunately they are getting old and no longer usable... dangerous.

A great homestay and the family that run it are extremely welcoming and friendly! I would recommend to all. Motorbike rental offered for a fair price too as the town is 15 minutes drive away. The food on the evening and then the break was great too!

Inaccurate and unreliable! Avoid this home stay! They 100% destroyed my 1st day in cat Ba island! Not only I was told the bus (and a bus company they partner with and offered me a 1$ discount…) will arrive in cat ba at 1pm but the bus arrived actually at 2.15pm, they had overbooked their bungalows so they offered me on a construction site, I wouldn’t be able to even approach the porch as it was full of sand and bricks…unacceptable really! And of course after the mess they put me in , I didn’t have enough time to make it to national park At least they apologized…

We stayed here for two nights in mid-April and had a lovely time. The units are really cute, comfortable and very clean. The food is great and very reasonably priced, and we can't speak highly enough of the owner, Minh – a top guy who speaks good English, is super helpful and never pushy with selling excursions or activities. He has poured a lot of love into building the units which are set in a small settlement overlooking fields about 9km from Cat Ba town which makes it quiet but close enough to both town and the national park.

We had a lovely short stay. The family are very lovely. The food was delicious. The room was clean and well designed. The photos are accurate. The guests next door were a little loud as there is no sound proof wall between. Otherwise a very peaceful area. They can assist with trips out to the bay and around the island. Highly recommend this homestay. I'd stay here again if in the area.

We spent 4 nights in this peaceful homestay, with a very nice and helpful Host and family. Don't hesitate to ask them ANY informations and services in Cat Ba Island they will support you easily. Rooms are simple but clean and confortable. Area/village is very quiet. Motorbike available for rent. It's a Big 5 stars !!! Thanks again to Ming.
