Gateway Hotel

On first appearance the room looked nice, at bed time I discovered body fluid stains on the bottom sheet and holes in the duvet cover, we used the top sheet to lie on, the bottom sheet was too small for the mattress, the toilet roll was virtually empty and I had to use tissues out of my bag, breakfast time was a disaster, the continental breakfast was extremely minimal, on the full breakfast only turkey rashers were on the menu, not offering normal standard bacon, i have intolerances and allergies to certain foods, so opted not to have the turkey rashers, my food came nicely presented and the staff are lovely, I cut into my sausage, the texture and colour didn't appear normal to me so I queried what the meat was and discovered it to be chicken which I am allergic to, I asked if anything else on my plate was cooked in the same pan as the sausage and was told that the hash brown was cooked with the sausage. If I'd have eaten these products then I would have been extremely poorly, the menu never stipulated that the sausages were made from chicken and we were never asked if anyone had any allergies. My breakfast was totally ruined. My overall experience is 2 out of 10 and I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone, the dining area acts also as a storage space as there are kitchen items and a oil filled radiator stored underneath& around a table, also a large linen press. How this establishment got rated as a hotel beggers belief. A partial refund would be most welcome

Again, reception almost doesn't exist lots of waiting outside for some to open door. No breakfast because refurbishment received £5 refund. Heating is switched off by night I think from 12am till 7:00 am very bad when is outside between 1 and negative temperature.

Ok for the price. Unfortunately no hot water in room.

Appalling, do not recommend Paid for a double room and was given a single room, this was no bother as the lady at reception apologised and put me into a double room. Got into my double room and it was filthy, it was late, I had a long day and wanted to crash. Instead I went out for the whole evening until 10pm so I would not have to sit in a filthy room, and on my return I could go to sleep and leave first thing in the morning. I pulled my bed covers back to get in bed and it was covered in blood stains, big patches of blood all over the sheets and duvet. I threw the bedding on the floor and slept in my coat for the night. Absolutely disgusting, never again.

1 night stay Pleasant enough for what i needed. Room was spacious, shower was hot, amenities where available.
